Job summary

Sammons Financial Group in West Des Moines, IA seeks a data governance professional for investment operations. You will oversee security master data, perform reconciliations, and partner across accounting, reporting and technology to ensure regulatory compliance.

The role requires 5+ years in investment operations, experience with PAM for Investments (PFI), and strong analytical and Excel skills. A bachelor’s in Finance or Accounting is preferred.

Responsibilities

What You Can Expect In This Role

Support investment data governance and operational controls across accounting systems. Maintain accurate security master data, perform complex reconciliations, resolve data issues and partner across teams to ensure reliable accounting, reporting and regulatory compliance.

What You'll Do In This Role

• Lead analysis of new security master files and new purchase yields; work with the external managers to explain and resolve.
• Oversee security master file setup and maintenance, ensuring completeness, accuracy and alignment with data governance standards.
• Identify, investigate and resolve complex discrepancies in security master data, income accrual and amortization/accretion schedules; escalating unresolved issues as appropriate.
• Assist with resolution of reconciliation exceptions by collaborating with internal teams such as accounting, reporting, technology, policy and portfolio management.
• Research and collaborate with internal and external partners on specific accounting and reporting guidance (e.g., Principal Based Bonds).
• Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) of primary investment data (e.g., payment structure, NAIC reporting categories) and PAM® for Investments (PFI) functionality (e.g., SMF field downstream impacts, report design, asset type – specific functions).
• Maintain knowledge of accounting principles, regulatory requirements, industry developments and operational workflows impacting insurance company portfolios.
• Take a lead role in user acceptance testing (UAT) for PFI system enhancements, data feeds and reconciliation tools.
• Document and review procedures and training aides for operational continuity and team development.
• Assist in preparing internal reports or summaries on reconciliation status, trends and recurring issues for team leads or management.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting Preferred
• Minimum 5 years' relevant work experience in investment operations, investment accounting or similar field Preferred
• Minimum 2 years' experience working in PAM® for Investments (PFI) Preferred
• Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills with the ability to take data from several sources and organize, validate and analyze data
• Excellent attention to detail, self-initiative and team player
• Strong systems background with ability to quickly learn and understand systems
• Intellectually curious nature and positive attitude towards learning new or complex topics
• Excellent ability to work in a collaborative team environment within and outside of the company
• Superior time management skills with ability to successfully manage multiple projects
• Familiarity with AI-based solutions or automation tools
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills

Salary Range Information

USD $61,622.00 - USD $115,540.00 /Yr. Range includes data points from multiple labor markets. Specific range is dependent on the labor market where the incumbent will be hired to perform the position. Starting salary is dependent on candidate qualifications and experience.
