Job summary

HKS, Inc. in Dallas seeks a senior Interior Designer to lead design teams, manage client relations, and deliver high-impact interior solutions on time and on budget. The role requires deep experience across all design phases, coordination with consultants, and strong command of BIM/Viz tools.

You will drive FF&E sourcing, maintain quality control, and mentor junior staff while advancing sustainability and integrated design throughout projects.

Qualifications

  • Accredited degree in Interior Design or Architecture or related field.
  • Typically 15+ years of experience in interior design or related roles.
  • NCIDQ certification preferred or equivalent credentials.

Responsibilities

  • Leads team in planning work and solving design detail problems.
  • Maintains client relationships and aligns design with project goals.
  • Develops interiors concepts from client vision and architectural concept.
  • Produces and reviews interior plans, elevations and details.
  • Oversees design documentation, schedules and project budgets.
  • Leads coordination with consultants and on-site reviews.
  • Manages FF&E sourcing, selection, and specification.
  • Delivers design solutions across all phases from programming to CD/CA.
  • Advances BIM and visualization to communicate design intent.
  • Ensures sustainability and integrated design guidelines are followed.

Job description

Overview

A recognized leader and certified Interior Designer who is responsible for delivering exceptional design and delivery for clients on time and on budget. Possesses strong communication skills, a flexible attitude, ability to solve problems creatively and ability to foster and manage effective client relationships. Responsible for high-impact decisions. Endorses the firm's values by personally influencing client service, innovation and communication. Acts as subject matter expert for design solutions.



Responsibilities


  • Leads team in planning work and developing solutions to technical and design detail problems

  • Builds and strengthens connections with clients through a comprehensive understanding of their project mission, goals, policies and needs

  • Leads development of interiors concepts based on client vision, desire and architectural concept

  • Utilizes creative thinking to achieve innovative solutions

  • Manages client's expectations, team communications and consultant coordination to meet overall project objectives

  • Prepares and reviews detailed implementation document sets (i.e., interior plans, fixture plans, elevations, details)

  • Supervises the preparation of design details and drawings by project team to maintain quality control with a focus on design

  • Generates project documents and schedules, manages the finances and keeps the project on schedule

  • Collaborates in the development of cost estimates for design proposals

  • Exercises skills of persuasion and negotiation on critical issues

  • Collaborates on all design phases including programming client needs, conceptual and schematic design, design development, document preparation and construction administration

  • Works with others through project phases to enhance the design by specializing in the FF&E sourcing, selection, custom design and specification

  • Attends on-site visits, field reviews and project meetings

  • Participates and may lead team meetings to discuss project issues, technical issues and coordination with other disciplines

  • Manages existing design technology and continually explores, improves on and evaluates best uses for technology for FF&E services



Qualifications


Education and Experience


  • Accredited professional degree in Interior Design, Architecture, related field or equivalent experience

  • Typically 15+ years of experience



Licenses and Certifications


  • NCIDQ certification required

  • Sustainable design accreditation preferred



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Advanced - expert-level experience, knowledge or skillsIntermediate - experience, knowledge or skills required to produce high-quality solutions or workBasic - familiar with primary concepts or capabilities and can perform elementary functions




  • Advanced experience and skills in Revit, Bluebeam, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign required

  • Advanced experience in Twinmotion, Enscape or other visualization tools required

  • Intermediate experience and skills in Rhino, Grasshopper and Dynamo; advanced preferred

  • Intermediate skills in AI design tools and virtual reality such as VR headsets and Yulio required

  • Intermediate skills in MS Office Suite preferred

  • Basic knowledge of furniture, fixtures and equipment (FF&E) specifications software required, and of Navisworks preferred

  • Advanced experience with the entire project lifecycle, through post-occupancy, required

  • Advanced knowledge of sustainability and integrated design guidelines required

  • Advanced knowledge of FF&E to carry out design intent required

  • Intermediate knowledge of design techniques, tools and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, drawings and models required

  • Advanced graphic and visualization skills to communicate design ideas required

  • Advanced experience with managing and performing duties in a fast-paced environment required

  • Advanced ability to manage team with diplomatic leadership style which puts value on relationships and collaboration, both internal and external required

  • Advanced ability to maintain existing client relationships and build new client relationships required

  • Advanced presentation skills required

  • Advanced organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time required

  • Advanced to communicate in a clear, concise and professional manner both verbally and in writing required

  • Advanced ability to collaborate and encourage collaboration in a team environment required

  • Advanced ability to effectively meet deadlines at expected quality required

  • Travel may be required
