Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Sr Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to work on state-of-the-art industrial and commercial facilities across the United States. You\'ll design and optimize control systems, develop P&IDs, size valves, and specify instrumentation while ensuring compliance with codes and standards.

You\'ll collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team, mentor junior staff, and lead project aspects from concept through startup, with on-site support and remote coordination as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or other related engineering or technical field.
• At least 6 Years of experience working with Instrumentation and Control.
• Experience with mission critical control systems including Building Management Systems (BMS), SCADA, and DCS.

Responsibilities

• Owns schedule and technical quality of engineering tasks and interfaces with client expectations, scope, budget and schedule.
• Provides on-site assistance during startup and coordinates work with staff and discipline lead.
• Designs and optimizes control systems for various processes, developing P&IDs, sizing valves, specifying instrumentation, and documenting design information while ensuring codes and standards compliance.
• Contributes to multi-disciplinary team with mentorship and collaboration across projects.
• Drives options and optimizations for process control, instrumentation, and automation across facilities.

We're looking for a Sr Instrumentation and Controls Engineer who is excited about working on projects that enable the heart of our clients’ business. Join us and you’ll have the chance to work on projects including state‑of‑the‑art industrial and commercial facilities.

You’ll be accountable for the schedule and technical quality of challenging engineering tasks, as you gain familiarity with the client’s expectations, scope, budget, and schedule. You’ll also provide on‑site assistance during startup, coordinate work activities with other staff members and the discipline lead.

As part of a collaborative, multi‑disciplinary team, you’ll help design and optimize control systems for a variety of processes, working closely with architects, engineers, and designers to deliver complete, world‑class solutions for new facilities. Your responsibilities will include developing P&IDs, sizing valves, specifying instrumentation, and documenting and modeling design information while ensuring compliance with building codes and industry standards.

Your multi‑discipline, highly interactive team will produce control system designs for a variety of processes and develop options and optimizations for all aspects of the process control, instrumentation, and automation. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or other related engineering or technical field
• At least 6 Years of experience working with Instrumentation and Control
• Demonstrated experience in mission critical control systems, including Building Management Systems (BMS), SCADA systems, and Distributed Control Systems (DCS)

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineering License (PE) in Electrical, Mechanical, or Control Systems Engineering.
• Extensive experience with Data Center control systems design, commissioning, and infrastructure components
• Experience preparing technical specifications, control narratives, and sequence of operations
• Served as discipline lead within a project team
• Track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Strong communication skills both verbal and written
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
• Forward thinking, eager to learn best practices and contribute with innovative ideas
• Self‑motivated with proven ability to learn quickly and continuously advance technical proficiency
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively within multi‑disciplinary teams
• Passion for critical facilities, infrastructure systems, and construction
• Experience mentoring Junior professionals and leading project teams

Base salary range for this position is $132,900.00 to $182,700.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
