Job summary

U.S. Bank is seeking a skilled Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to design, build, and support cloud solutions on AWS and Azure. You will implement Terraform IaC, Python automation, and CI/CD pipelines to improve platform reliability and security.

Collaborate with engineering, security, and platform teams to deliver scalable, compliant cloud infrastructure, following Well-Architected best practices and governance standards. Hybrid work arrangement expected at U.S. Bank locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• 5–6 years of relevant cloud infrastructure experience.
• Hands-on AWS or Azure experience.
• Terraform for provisioning, automation, and lifecycle management.
• Python scripting for cloud operations.
• Experience with CI/CD in GitHub/GitLab/Bitbucket.
• Experience with Policy-as-Code and governance/checkov.
• Knowledge of Well-Architected framework and security practices.
• Observability tools knowledge (Datadog preferred).

Job Description Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and support cloud infrastructure solutions across AWS and/or Azure environments.
• Develop, maintain, and optimize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and additional configuration management tools.
• Create automation solutions and operational tooling using Python to improve platform efficiency and reliability.
• Implement Policy-as-Code and compliance validation practices using Checkov and cloud governance frameworks.
• Build, maintain, and enhance CI/CD pipelines using GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure, platform, and production issues using Well-Architected Framework best practices.
• Drive platform reliability, operational excellence, documentation standards, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with engineering, security, and platform teams to deliver scalable, secure, and highly available cloud solutions.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience
• Five to six years of relevant experience

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on experience with AWS or Azure, including compute, storage, networking, and cloud platform services.
• Advanced expertise in Terraform for infrastructure provisioning, automation, and lifecycle management.
• Proficiency in Python scripting and automation for cloud operations and platform engineering.
• Experience with at least one additional IaC/configuration tool such as Ansible, CloudFormation, Pulumi, Bicep, ARM, Chef, or Puppet.
• Hands-on experience implementing Checkov, Policy-as-Code, governance controls, and compliance automation.
• Experience building and supporting CI/CD pipelines in GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket environments.
• Strong troubleshooting, debugging, incident response, and root cause analysis skills across cloud and platform environments.
• Knowledge of Well-Architected principles, security best practices, observability platforms (Datadog preferred), cost optimization, and multi-environment deployment strategies.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
