Job summary

RWE Americas, LLC is seeking a Sr HSSE Project Execution Associate to ensure health, safety, security, and environmental compliance across construction projects, development, and operating sites. The role drives HSSE management, regulatory adherence, and Incident/Non-conformance reporting.

You will lead investigations, develop corrective actions with Operations and Engineering, and monitor HSSE metrics while traveling domestically 50% or more to facilities and projects across multiple sites.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health, Construction Safety, or Environmental Science required; 6 years of related experience may replace the degree.
  • Minimum 3 years HSSE experience in operations, maintenance, or construction of power generation facilities (wind/solar/battery).
  • Working knowledge of OSHA/EPA and state labor standards; regulatory familiarity desirable.
  • Willingness to travel domestically 50% or more.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and ensure health and safety of all employees and subcontractors on facilities and projects.
  • Drive continuous HSSE improvement across operations, project execution, and functions.
  • Coordinate collection and accuracy of contractor man-hours.
  • Travel to facilities/projects regionally; >50% travel expected.
  • Conduct investigations and prepare reports for the KPA Flex system.
  • Develop corrective actions with Operations, Project Execution, and Engineering; ensure closure.
  • Monitor HSSE performance metrics, OSHA records, and injury reports; maintain records.
  • Perform and document wind/solar/battery operations audits and safety observations.
  • Lead HSSE programs across designated sites; deliver training on lockout/tagout and other topics.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings across Operations, Project Execution, and Engineering.

The Sr HSSE Project Execution Associate ensures the health, safety, security, and environmental compliance of all colleagues and business partners across construction projects, development, and operational sites. Supports and implements the HSSE management system, processes, and programs while driving adherence to environmental and regulatory requirements. Manages contractor HSSE performance through scoring, best practice implementation, and lessons learned integration. Facilitates investigations and root cause analyses, and tracks and reports daily, weekly, and monthly activities and non-conformances. Operates independently and with integrity to achieve departmental KPIs and HSSE targets.


Role Responsibilities:


  • Promotes and ensures the health and safety of all employees, contractors, and subcontractors when working on RWECE facilities and projects

  • Drives continuous improvement in HSSE within all operations, project execution, and functional departments of the company

  • Coordinates the collection and accuracy of contractor man-hours

  • Frequently travels to facilities and projects within the assigned region; greater than 50% of the time

  • Conducts investigations, prepares & submits reports and updates to the KPA Flex system

  • Partners with Operations, Project Execution, and Engineering on the development of Corrective Actions for incidents and events through closure

  • Maintains, monitors, and reports HSSE performance metrics, statistics, records, and injury reports (OSHA 300) in a timely manner, using automated record-keeping systems for the assigned region

  • Performs and documents Wind/Solar/Battery Operations, Project Execution audits, inspections, and technical assessments/observations

  • Leads the implementation and monitoring of HSSE programs across a portfolio of sites within a designated region or technology type

  • Delivers HSSE training on topics such as lockout/tagout, confined space entry, working at heights, and hazard communication

  • Actively participates in Operations, Project Execution, Project Development, and Engineering meetings


Job Requirements and Experiences:


  • An associate's degree, or a bachelor's degree in Occupational Health, Construction Safety, and/or Environmental Science, or a related field, is required

  • A professional certification is preferred

  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in lieu of a degree is acceptable; other factors will be taken into consideration

  • A minimum of 3 years of HSSE experience applicable to operations, maintenance, and/or construction of power generation and related facilities (Wind/Solar/Battery) is required

  • Working knowledge of federal OSHA and EPA, state OSHA/EPA, and labor standards for General and Construction industries, as well as the general principles of Industrial Safety and Industrial Hygiene

  • Specific knowledge of local and state safety and environmental regulations is desirable

  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, project implementation, and safety platforms

  • Effectively engages peers from all levels of the organization to achieve a common vision, goals, and objectives for a safe working environment

  • Flexibility and willingness to travel domestically as needed to effectively perform the job

  • Languages: English mandatory, additional languages an advantage


Physical Requirements:


  • This is a safety-sensitive position. Primarily field environment; up to and possibly more than 50% travel; may be exposed to hazardous conditions (Working at Height 300+ft., Confined Space, Bloodborne Pathogens); supports multiple office and field work sites

  • If required to climb, will be Wind Turbine Climb certified with a medical evaluation to obtain clearance to work at height in extreme hot and cold conditions

  • If required to climb, must pass the required fit for duty requirements

  • Must be able to demonstrate flexibility and a full range of movement in order to work in Confined Spaces

  • If required to climb, must maintain appropriate body weight with PPE and tools to not exceed OSHA limit of 310 pounds and posted weight limits on ladders

Pay range:

The annual base salary range for this position in Illinois is $100,000 - $110,000. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
