Job summary

Honeywell UOP is seeking a Sr. HSE Engineer to drive health, safety, and environmental excellence across Des Plaines, IL (R&D) and Riverside/McCook, IL (R&D & Manufacturing).

You will implement the HSE Management System, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and influence stakeholders to embed HSE in business processes and decisions. The role requires 5+ years in HSE, a bachelor’s in a related field, and strong regulatory knowledge.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in HSE within manufacturing, R&D, and/or field related businesses.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field or qualifications in Health, Safety, Environmental, Risk Management, Industrial Hygiene or related HSE field.
  • In-depth knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations and best practices.
  • Proficiency in HSE Management Systems.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and strategic planning abilities.
  • Strong people skills, time management and personnel training programs.
  • Experience undertaking audits and inspections.
  • Proficient in general computer software use - Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the HSE Management System to ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Provide expert advice and assistance to management and employees on health and safety strategies, programs, systems, policies, standards, and processes.
  • Conduct site-level risk assessments and collaborate with location teams to execute necessary actions and improvements.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive HSE strategies aligned with the organization's mission.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations, permits, and certifications.
  • Establish and enforce HSE quality control standards through inspections, assessments, corrective actions, and self-assessments.
  • Develop and maintain HSE training content, enrollments, and assignments for employees and contractors.
  • Lead and coordinate internal and external HSE audits.
  • Update, track, and drive performance of key HSE metrics.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Management of Change program.
  • Process new chemical inventory requests, maintain SDS database, and ensure inventory accuracy.

The annual base salary range for this position is $91,200 - $120,000 Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Honeywell considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations
