Plastic Technology Inc in Hickory, NC seeks a Senior HR Generalist to be the primary on-site HR partner for the Hickory plant. In this hands-on role, you’ll support employees and leaders across shifts, handle employee relations, and work with plant leadership on staffing, performance, development and retention.

Reporting to the Director of Operations, you’ll be a visible, approachable presence in the facility, managing day-to-day HR needs and spotting workforce trends to help leaders address

Qualifications

• 4+ years of progressive HR experience, ideally in a generalist role supporting hourly and salaried staff.
• Experience handling employee relations matters and workplace investigations with sound judgment.
• Knowledge of U.S. employment practices, including leave and accommodations.
• Strong communication and relationship-building across all levels of the organization.
• Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
• Manufacturing experience strongly preferred.

• Coordinate HR training and support safety culture with EHS and leadership.

Description

PTI, LLC (a subsidiary of NMC International SA) is seeking a Senior HR Generalist to be the primary on-site HR partner for our Hickory plant. In this hands-on role, you’ll support employees and leaders across shifts, help resolve workplace concerns, and work with plant leadership on staffing, performance, development, and retention.

Reporting to the Director of Operations, you’ll be a visible and approachable presence in the facility. We’re looking for someone who can manage day-to-day HR needs independently while spotting workforce trends and helping leaders address them.

What you’ll do

• Advise employees, supervisors, and plant leaders on employee relations, performance, attendance, company policies, and other HR matters.
• Handle employee concerns, counseling, investigations, and corrective actions, escalating complex or high-risk matters as appropriate.
• Coordinate recruiting and hiring, from job postings and interviews through offers, pre-employment steps, orientation, and onboarding.
• Support leave and accommodation processes, including matters involving FMLA and ADA.
• Maintain accurate, confidential employee records and process personnel changes, including promotions, transfers, pay changes, and terminations.
• Serve as the plant’s point of contact for payroll, benefits, HR systems, and related employee questions.
• Partner with leaders on performance reviews, employee development, workforce planning, and succession planning.
• Track turnover, absenteeism, staffing, time-to-fill, and engagement to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Support employee communication, recognition, retention initiatives, and organizational changes.
• Coordinate HR training and partner with EHS and plant leadership to support a strong safety culture.

What you’ll bring

• At least four years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a generalist role supporting both hourly and salaried employees.
• Experience handling employee relations matters and workplace investigations with sound judgment and discretion.
• Working knowledge of U.S. employment practices, including leave and accommodations.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills across all levels of an organization.
• The ability to manage competing priorities, follow issues through resolution, and balance immediate plant needs with longer-term workforce goals.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience using an HR information system.
• A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field is preferred; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will also be considered.
• Manufacturing experience is strongly preferred.
