Job summary

HR-Elements-4 is seeking an Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) Manager to lead regulatory compliance, risk reduction, and safety culture across our manufacturing operations in the United States. This role drives the design, implementation, and maintenance of programs to ensure adherence to OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, and site-specific requirements.

You will partner with operations, training teams, and external regulators to monitor KPIs, manage incident investigations, and deliver training.

Job Summary

The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) Manager is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining environmental, safety, health and other related programs to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations including company-specific requirements to support the manufacturing environment. This role focuses on minimizing risks, promoting a strong safety culture, and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.

Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance
  • Works directly with the Baerlocher staff to ensure that the regulatory support programs are aligned with the company goals and objectives.
  • Reports out to Baerlocher Staff on all issues and performance with respect to Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Ensures adherence to OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, and other applicable regulations.
  • Prepares required reporting e.g. SARA, RCRA, stormwater, emissions, permit renewal applications for the appropriate Baerlocher Certification.
  • Interfaces with regulatory agencies proactively and on an as needed basis.
  • Monitors current and pending regulations, providing timely interpretation and summaries to the management team and applicable operations facility.
  • Supports facility in the timely reporting of EH&S matters to internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies.
Safety Program Management
  • Develops and supports the implementation of company EH&S standards to ensure facility compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses for chemical processes.
  • Coaches and mentors’ operations management teams andsiteon EH&S matters, encouraging continuous improvement.
  • Leads and supports companywide EH&S initiatives, working collaboratively with operations management teams and other company departments.
  • Identifies best practices and strategically integrates them into facility EH&S plans.
  • Reports Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to staff, integrating leading and lagging indicators to assess performance and inform decision-making.
Incident Management
  • Supports and encourages timely incident investigations, leading the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) process when needed and ensuring that all identified corrective measures are implemented.
  • Maintains records of incidents and coordinates with regulatory agencies as needed.
  • Responds and provides real time assistance in emergency situations.
Training & Communication
  • Design and deliver all Company and Regulatory required training programs.
  • Manages all regulatory training records to ensure all personnel are properly and timely trained and reports out to Staff and Department Managers on a regular basis on Training KPIs.
  • Promotes a proactive safety culture through regular communication and engagement.
Audits & Inspections
  • Performs Program audits and safety inspections of facilities and processes.
  • Recommends corrective or preventive measures to Management and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
  • Ensures proper storage, handling, and disposition of all chemicals and materials for the site.
  • Analyzes EH&S metrics, communicating and implementing action plans to address trends.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

In addition, we require
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Certification preferred (CIH, CSP, and/or CHP) or 7-10+ years of progressive experience in Safety Management; Chemical Manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and state-specific regulations.
  • Experience with hazardous materials, air permits, and environmental reporting.
  • Effectively communicates across all organizational levels through clear writing, persuasive speaking, and proficient group facilitation.
  • Acts as a change leader by influencing organizational behavior, driving continuous improvement, and fostering a culture of safety and compliance.
  • Provides clear expectations, ensures accountability, and builds commitment while modeling professionalism, approachability, and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Must be a team player that interacts effectively with co-workers ingroupor in independent cooperative activities.
  • Ability to function under pressure and able to prioritize numerous tasks with conflicting deadlines.
  • Ability tocoordinate emergenciesand work flexible hours as needed.
  • Ability to influence andto drivesafetyculture.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) with the ability to prepare reports, presentations, and data analysis to support decision-making.
