Job description

Sr Hardware Dev Engineer, OEM Solid State Drives Team

As a lead engineer on the HWEng Drives team, you will design and build infrastructure to operate our storage platforms at massive scale, lead the integration and delivery of SSDs from OEM suppliers, and support automated monitoring and failure analysis services for these devices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead design and delivery of next‑generation SSD technology for AWS cloud systems.
  • Collaborate with software engineers to build services that optimize SSD performance and health at scale.
  • Drive operational excellence by building monitoring, diagnostics and root‑cause analysis tools.
  • Coordinate deployment of new drives across existing and new platforms.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of hardware design and validation experience for components, subsystems or systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, computer engineering or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux‑based debugging, root‑cause analysis, and storage system operation.
  • Experience with SSD integration and scaling operations.
  • Proficient in coding, scripting, and debugging in Linux environments.
  • Ability to work with interdisciplinary teams to move product from concept to production.
  • Expertise in server technologies (thermal, mechanical, power, signal integrity).
  • Experience developing technical documentation: functional specifications, verification plans, test procedures.
  • Exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications and location.
