Job summary

VOLTO Consulting is seeking a Senior Hardware Design Engineer with 10+ years of embedded digital hardware design experience, ideally in the automotive sector, to lead hardware development from concept through production. The role requires close collaboration with system, software, mechanical, validation, manufacturing, supplier, and customer teams.

You will own analog/digital circuits, power, sensor interfaces, MCU designs, perform simulations and reliability testing, drive design reviews,

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of embedded digital hardware design and development experience.
  • Strong automotive electronics hardware development experience.
  • Hands-on experience with analog and digital circuit design.
  • Experience with power supplies, communication interfaces, sensors, and microcontrollers.
  • Strong knowledge of schematic design and PCB development.
  • Experience with circuit simulation, worst-case analysis, tolerance analysis, derating, and power-budget analysis.
  • Experience with hardware bring-up, debugging, integration, and validation.
  • Knowledge of EMC/EMI, ESD, electrical transients, thermal, vibration, and reliability testing.
  • Strong understanding of component selection and automotive component qualification.
  • Experience working across system, software, mechanical, validation, manufacturing, and supplier teams.
  • Strong troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, communication, and technical leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead automotive electronic hardware development from concept to production.
  • Translate customer and system requirements into hardware requirements, architectures, block diagrams, schematics, and design documentation.
  • Design analog, digital, power-supply, communication, sensor-interface, and microcontroller-based circuits.
  • Select automotive-grade components based on performance, reliability, qualification, availability, lifecycle, and cost.
  • Review and guide PCB placement, routing, stack-up, grounding, shielding, thermal management, signal integrity, and power integrity.
  • Perform circuit simulations, worst-case and tolerance analysis, derating, power-budget calculations, and other design analyses.
  • Lead hardware design reviews and drive closure of technical issues.
  • Develop and maintain BOMs and support component obsolescence management.
  • Support prototype development, board bring-up, integration, debugging, and functional testing.
  • Develop hardware verification and validation plans, test specifications, acceptance criteria, and test reports.
  • Support EMC, ESD, electrical transient, environmental, vibration, thermal, and reliability testing.
  • Troubleshoot design, manufacturing, validation, and field issues using structured root-cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering, manufacturing, supplier, and customer teams.
  • Support DFM, DFT, DFR, and production launch.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers and offshore teams.
  • Participate in technical discussions, estimates, planning, customer reviews, and project delivery activities.

Job Summary

The ideal candidate will lead hardware development from concept through production and work closely with system, software, mechanical, validation, manufacturing, supplier, and customer teams.

Key Responsibilities
