Job description

Description

This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports. You will drive operational excellence and deliver results through cross-functional influence, program ownership, and strategic vendor partnerships — not through people management. The AWS Cloud Logistics team is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Supply Chain Specialist in Bellevue WA to manage the day to day warehousing operations for the fastest growing industries in the world while working on projects to further enhance our operation. This is an exciting opportunity to join an energetic and driven team.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. You’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

An ideal candidate has a background in logistics, warehouse management, and excellent data driven problem resolution skills. They have the ability to work with external partners/influence others, pull and analyze data with ease, drive process improvements, standardize processes, and eliminate the root cause of defects within the current systems. This job will require solid communication skills while having the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.

This role might be for you if:

You are passionate about warehousing operations and vendor management

Passionate about warehousing operations and process efficiency

You enjoy working with data to analyze and report complex data sets to drive optimal business decisions. (Ability to present data and use advance formulas in Excel)

You own decisions from inception to implementation.

You own continuous improvement efforts using your program management skills.

Key job responsibilities

Engage in daily tactical communication with external vendors (Logistics Service Providers) and internal customers

Leading large projects independently

Travel to audit warehouses throughout NALA (mostly domestic USA)

Analyze data from numerous databases (using Excel, SQL and/or other data management systems) and perform reporting and analysis as needed

Publish performance metrics to assist with driving business results

Quickly and efficiently understand the business impact of observed trends and make decisions based on available data

Identify and eliminate root causes of defects in order to drive efficiency in Amazon’s transportation operations

Work with multiple stakeholder teams in the Supply Chain to jointly solve problems and implementing standards

Work within time constraints to meet critical business needs
