Job summary

Amazon Robotics is seeking a Sr. Global Commodity Manager for Semiconductors to lead global supplier management and strategic sourcing for ICs, DSPs, MCUs, PMICs, MOSFETs and related components.

You will partner with engineering and operations to align roadmaps, drive cost reductions, and ensure supplier capability meets robotics manufacturing needs. The role requires 5+ years in supply chain/commodity management and a proven track record in global contracts, vendor negotiations, and driving

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field with strong analytical skills.
  • 5+ years in supply chain management, planning, strategic sourcing or program management.
  • Experience with global contract management and vendor negotiations.
  • Experience creating global supply strategies and evaluating supplier performance.
  • 7+ years in supply chain, commodity management, and supplier management in a high-volume, global environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage supplier relationships, performance, capacity planning, contracting, risk mitigation, and cost/quality improvements.
  • Collaborate with engineering and program teams on new product introductions to define requirements.
  • Communicate forecast and capacity requirements for sustaining and new products.
  • Monitor supplier performance and address supply or quality issues.
  • Align supplier strategies with Robotics objectives for production and new product release.
  • Develop commodity and supplier technology roadmaps aligning business needs with supplier capabilities.
  • Maintain monthly supplier scorecards and conduct quarterly executive reviews.
  • Travel to supplier sites domestically and internationally (~25%).

The Amazon Robotics Supply Chain and Operations organization sources and manufactures a portfolio of robotics technology and is responsible for getting the right materials to the right place at the right time to support our network of global fulfillment and transportation solutions.


The Supply Chain team is seeking an experienced Sr. Global Commodity Manager for Semiconductors (Integrated Circuits, DSP, MCUs, PMICs, MOSFETs and other core components) with a background in global supplier management, new supplier introduction, supplier development, and executing sourcing decisions to support new product introduction and long‑term commodity strategy. The ideal candidate for this position will be self‑managed and driven sourcing strategist, with experience in semiconductor industry, mapping and aligning design and technology roadmaps, experience in creating sourcing strategies, and business acumen to support engineering teams to develop latest technologies through strong vendor base, without capacity constrain, while achieving cost reduction goals.


The Sr. Global Commodity Manager has an important role in ensuring their respective commodity and suppliers meet the technical and commercial specifications necessary for Robotics to satisfy its internal Manufacturing Operations, Supplier Quality, Supply Chain, and Hardware Engineering customers.


Key job responsibilities


  • Managing overall supplier relationships including supplier performance, capability, capacity planning, contracting, risk mitigation, and cost and quality improvements.

  • Collaborating with technical operations, engineering, and program teams on new product introduction programs to define standard and custom product requirements to ensure that sourcing strategies meet the technical capabilities, cost, and business objectives.

  • Developing efficient and accurate mechanisms for communicating forecast and capacity requirements for sustaining and new products.

  • Supporting the purchasing and planning teams by monitoring supplier performance and addressing supply and/or quality issues.

  • Aligning supplier strategies to Robotics objectives for sustaining production and new product release.

  • Developing a commodity and supplier technology roadmap, aligning business requirements with supplier capabilities.

  • Responsible for maintaining monthly supplier scorecards and conducting quarterly executive business reviews.

  • Periodic travel to supplier’s domestic and international manufacturing sites, approximately 25%.

Basic Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in business economics, engineering, analytics, mathematics, statistics, information technology or equivalent

  • 5+ years of supply chain management, planning, strategic sourcing, commodity management or program management experience

  • Experience reading and writing procedures, technical documents, and engineering drawings, or experience in electrical or mechanical engineering

  • Experience creating an innovative global supply strategy for the organization resulting in a tangible benefit to the business

  • Experience in strategic sourcing including vendor negotiations, global contract management, process improvement, operational and financial analysis

  • 7+ years of experience in supply chain, commodity management, and supplier management in a high‑volume, global manufacturing environment.

  • Master's degree, or MBA in supply chain management, operations, engineering, analytics or related field

The base salary range for this position is 147,900.00 - 200,100.00 USD annually. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage), 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
