Patriot Rail Company in Jacksonville, FL is seeking a Senior GL Accountant to manage general ledger, financial reporting, fixed asset, and project accounting for assigned railroad entities. The role requires preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and analysis, with a focus on GAAP compliance and cross-functional collaboration.
You will support month-end close, variances, and audits, and contribute to process improvements across accounting functions in a fast-paced environment.
SUMMARY OF POSITION
Responsible for general ledger accounting, financial reporting, fixed asset accounting, and project accounting for assigned railroad entities. The position prepares and reviews journal entries, account reconciliations, financial statements, capital project activity, and fixed asset records; analyzes trends, costs, revenues, commitments, and obligations by road; and communicates results to management. The Senior GL Accountant is expected to identify process and control improvements, support cross-functional projects, and contribute to the annual financial audit.
Prior fixed asset, capital project, or construction-in-progress accounting experience preferred.
Ability to analyze project costs and supporting documentation and apply capitalization policies consistently.
Experience with SAP fixed asset and project functionality preferred.
