Job summary

Amazon Leo is seeking a Sr. FPGA Engineer to lead real-time embedded system design and programmable logic for next-gen antenna systems.

You will collaborate across hardware, systems, and firmware teams to enable Direct-to-Device connectivity via satellites, testing and bringing up complex FPGAs, ASICs, and RF subsystems. You will own FPGA bitstreams, work on networking functions in FPGA technology, and drive performance trade-offs for a superior customer experience in a high-impact,

Qualifications

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
• 5+ years of programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby experience.
• Experience leading the design, automation, deployment, and support of large-scale infrastructure.
• Experience with Linux/Unix
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes
• Experience with modern ASIC/FPGA design and verification tools
• Experience in writing test scripts (Python preferred) to validate FPGA images in HW.
• 5+ years experience in FPGA design and Implementation using System Verilog.
• Experience with Xilinx/AMD (or Altera) FPGAs.
• Experience with uArchitecture, RTL coding, FPGA optimization for timing & power, simulation, and validation

Amazon Leo is a long-term Amazon program to increase global broadband access through a constellation of satellites in Low Earth Orbit (LEO); providing low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Direct-to-Device (D2D) is Leo's initiative to enable standard smartphones and IoT devices to connect directly to satellites, filling coverage gaps in remote areas.

As an FPGA engineer for D2D, you will collaborate with systems architects, hardware engineering design teams & FW/SW teams to bring up and test complex systems combining FPGAs, custom ASICs, and RF. Additionally, you will:

• Familiarity with AXI4 and AXI Streaming interfaces
• Proven track record of successfully fielding and supporting FPGA and ASIC products

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
