Job summary

SciensBuilding Solutions seeks a Senior Fire Alarm Inspector to ensure code-compliant inspection and maintenance of fire alarm systems in New York. You will work with sales, field project teams, and clients to ensure high-quality service, with a strong emphasis on accuracy and safety.

Responsibilities include producing surveys, logs, and reports; coordinating with teams; adhering to NFPA guidelines; and delivering projects on time and within budget. A competitive benefits package is offered.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of inspector experience in fire detection and protection.
• Knowledge of NFPA standards and fire suppression systems.
• Ability to read and interpret IFC/IBC sections.

THE POSITION IN A NUTSHELL

SciensBuilding Solutions is seeking a Senior Fire Alarm Inspector to provide inspection and maintenance capabilities. This position will work closely with our sales team, field project teams, and clients to ensure our customers’ systems are inspected and maintained in a code-compliant manner. This is a key position for our growing team and requires attention to detail in all aspects of executing projects. Customer and employee interface requires a high degree of effective human relations. Communication skills, both verbal and written, are important elements of the position.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (and doing well!)

• Responsible for reviewing system layouts and coordinating with the systems and service departments for successful project execution.
• Produce field surveys and daily project logs of activity.
• Responsible for inspecting and maintaining fire alarm systems.
• Produce detailed inspection and deficiency reports in accordance with NFPA.
• Responsible for delivering projects on schedule and within cost budgets.
• Responsible for logging and transmitting inspection reports via laptop computers.
• Oversight of vehicle inventory.
• Read and understand smoke reports sequence of operations and verify the system operations based on the sequence.
• Provide support, guidance, and expertise to the other inspectors.
• Customer-focused; skilled in project and people management.
• Manage job scheduling and job progress in an efficient and cost-effective manner, with a strong focus on quality.
• Comply with standards and procedures of industry and Sciens safety programs/policies.

WHAT WE LIKE ABOUT YOU

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years of experience in an inspector role within the fire detection and protection industry.
• Knowledge of current fire alarm and clean agent/special hazard fire suppression systems.
• Advanced knowledge of Section 907 of IFC or state-adopted fire code.
• Advanced knowledge of Section 909 of the IBC or state-adopted building code.
• NICET II certification.
• Ability to train and develop other Service Technicians on equipment, company policies, and procedures.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and able to obtain OSHA 10 Certifications.
• Customer-focused; skilled in project and people management.
• Proficient in issue resolution.
• Excellent organizational, decision-making, and communication skills.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and with a sense of urgency.
• Be physically fit to perform the demanding work of the trade, including frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds, maximum occasional lifting up to 50 pounds; able to work from heights and climb ladders; standing and walking for most of the workday.
• Valid driver’s license & reliable transportation.
