Job summary

NBCUniversal in Stamford, CT is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to lead day-to-day Production Finance activities for NBC Sports programs, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost-tracking. You will partner with FP&A, Controllership, and Program Finance to provide insights and ensure accurate monthly closes and reporting.

The role requires 3+ years in finance, accounting or business analysis, strong Excel skills, and a willingness to work in a hybrid schedule at our Stamford facility.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field.
  • 3+ years of finance, accounting, or business analysis experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including experience using formulas and functions.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate quantitative analysis into actionable recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Actively involved in Production Budget processes: In-depth preparation of budgets for upcoming season.
  • Attend budget meetings, manage follow-up, work closely with Scheduling department to manage staffing schedules and budgets.
  • Take ownership of assigned properties with oversight by manager.
  • Assist with annual budget efforts: pacing and reporting, identifying risks and opportunities.
  • Assist with FP&A and Controllership deliverables: Monthly closing: ownership of assigned monthly closing processes, including journal entries, variance analysis, and post-close financial reporting.

Job Description

The Production Finance team collaborates with the Sports Production and Operations to budget, track and complete analysis on NBC Sports’ programs. We work closely with FP&A, Controllership and Program Finance to fulfill corporate reporting requirements and provide meaningful insights into spending and cost trends to Leadership. As a Senior Financial Analyst, you will play an integral role in the day-to-day management of Sports Production finances, including payment, tracking, budgeting, and forecasting.

Responsibilities

Actively involved in Production Budget processes:

In-depth preparation of budgets for upcoming season

Attend budget meetings, manage follow-up, work closely with Scheduling department to manage staffing schedules and budgets

Take ownership of assigned properties with oversight by manager

Assist with annual budget efforts: pacing and reporting, identifying risks and opportunities

Assist with FP&A and Controllership deliverables:

Monthly closing: ownership of assigned monthly closing processes, including journal entries, variance analysis, and post-close financial reporting

Pacing, estimates, LRP, budgets and variance explanations, as assigned

Own accounts payable responsibilities for assigned sports:

Accurately code invoices

Coordinate approvals

Update operators and team members on payment status, and work with vendors as needed

Own the process of actualizing production budgets by posting expenses in show models and reconciling to General Ledger

Update and maintain individual cost tracking models, as required

Participate in regular financial update meetings with operators

Prepare and provide financial analyses to operators, as requested

Ad hoc projects, as necessary

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field

3+ years of finance, accounting, or business analysis experience

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including experience using formulas and functions

Strong technical aptitude with the ability and willingness to learn new systems and tools

Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate quantitative analysis into actionable recommendations

Demonstrated ability to build effective cross-functional relationships and partner with stakeholders across the business

Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Desired Qualifications

Experience with SAP and BPC preferred

Background in accounting and close cycles

Strong strategic thinking and ability to communicate financial insights in a clear, concise, and compelling manner

Experience working in a complex, cross-functional organization

  • Must be willing to physically work out of ourFacility in Stamford CT
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
  • Must be 18 years or older

Hybrid:This position currently has a hybrid schedule, which requires contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.

Salary Range:$80,000 - $90,000
