Job summary

Neurocrine Biosciences seeks a Facilities Manager to oversee and maintain our facilities and equipment, leading maintenance, repairs, and improvements and guiding junior technicians. You will coordinate with vendors for specialized services and manage space planning and relocations.

Responsibilities include ensuring safety procedures, documenting facility activities, and daily inspections of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and lab gas systems to support a safe, compliant workplace.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma / Associate’s degree and 4+ years of related experience.
  • Biotech/Pharma facility work is preferred.
  • Hold and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to read blueprints, schematics and from technical manuals pertaining to facilities and equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory gas systems and equipment.

About the Role

Responsible for overseeing and maintaining the facilities and equipment of the company. Completes a wide range of tasks related to facility maintenance, repairs, and improvements. Addresses complex facility-related challenges and provides guidance to less-experienced colleagues.

Your Contributions
  • Coordinate and manage facility improvement projects and identify/address complex technical issues related to facility operations
  • Collaborate with external vendors and contractors for specialized facility services
  • Implement and maintain facility-related documentation and records, including safety procedures and equipment manuals
  • Manage facilities help desk requests and ensure timely response with a strong emphasis on delivering exceptional customer service, clear communication, and comprehensive support
  • Lead and coordinate internal employee and lab relocations, reconfigurations, storage/inventory as well as space commissioning and decommissioning while demonstrating a proactive approach and commitment to operational excellence
  • Oversee and execute tasks in various maintenance trades such as carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, painting, and lighting, with an expanded scope of responsibilities
  • Manage the logistics and setup for corporate events and conference rooms, ensuring seamless and professional execution
  • Perform routine inspections, repairs, maintenance, and installation of furniture, fixtures, and equipment in both lab and office areas, demonstrating proactivity and attention to detail to ensure safety and compliance
  • Provides primary support for facilities and guidance to junior facilities technicians, prepared to take on additional backup duties and tasks as needed
  • Supervise the monitoring, ordering, and delivery of gases for laboratory use, ensuring consistent and efficient supply management
  • Conduct daily and weekly building walks to monitor overall facility operation, safety, and condition, and take the lead in planning and implementing solutions in collaboration with the operations team
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • High School Diploma / Associate’s degree and 4+ years of related experience
  • Relevant certification or license in facility management or a related field may be required
  • Biotech/Pharma facility work including laboratory space highly preferred
  • Hold and maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Strong understanding in HVAC, electrical and plumbing, painting/drywall, lighting and ballast replacement
  • Demonstrated ability in furniture repair and installation
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory gas systems and equipment (including incubators and freezers)
  • Must be able to read and work off blueprints, schematics and from technical manuals pertaining to facilities and equipment installed and serviced
  • Strong understanding in general, fire prevention, electrical, hazmat, and laboratory safety
  • Knowledge of maintenance and environmental standards
  • Strong understanding of laboratory equipment trouble shooting and/or repair (desired but not required)
  • Ability to work with outside vendors to obtain supplies, equipment, contracts, and services
  • Uses established skills to perform a range of daily operations
  • Applies understanding of company policies and procedures to complete assigned tasks
  • Understands how own area contributes to the achievement of objectives
  • Must have proficient computer skills to include Microsoft Office
  • Highly motivated proactive individual that can work unsupervised with a high level of detail
  • Completes work assigned in a reliable, consistent manner while working successfully as an individual and within a team environment
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills with internal and external stakeholders

The hourly rate we reasonably expect to pay is $28.15-$38.41. Individual pay decisions depend on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 20% of the earned base salary and eligibility to participate in our equity based long term incentive program.
