Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in medical or science field preferred; significant experience may substitute.
  • 8+ years in a pharma Medical Affairs or clinical development role.
  • Significant GI cancer knowledge and evolving disease landscape.
  • Strong ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Understanding of non-clinical and clinical drug development processes.
  • Strong written and oral communication; ability to influence and build trust.
  • Travel 20-35% domestically and internationally.

Job description

Erascais a clinical-stage precision oncology company focused on discovering, developing and commercializing medicines for the benefit of patients with cancer. Our programs take novel approaches to shutting down one of cancer’s most commonly mutated signaling cascades, the RAS/MAPK pathway, which affects approximately 5.5 million lives each year worldwide. Position Summary:

Reporting to the VP of Medical Affairs, the Senior or Executive Director, GI Medical Strategy will drive the overarching medical strategy and execution for GI cancers with a focus toward pancreas cancer. This person will work closely with cross-functional teams in the development, management, and execution of the clinical development plan, evidence generation strategy, scientific narrative, and KOL engagement strategy. The Senior or Executive Director, GI Medical Strategy will serve as a GI cancers subject matter expert and key thought partner, both internally and externally, and will have individual responsibilityforgrowing and developing the medical affairs function within GI cancers at the company.

Note that this position can be hybrid in San Diego, CA or South San Francisco, CA or fully remote anywhere in the United States.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Strategic and tactical leadforGI cancers in Medical Affairs. Coordinates across all Medical Affairs, R&D, and other functions by developing andmaintainingstrategic plans and budgets.
  • Partners across internal stakeholders in the development of the GI cancers overall medical strategy, clinical development plan, evidence generation strategy, scientific narrative, and KOL engagement strategy.
  • Collaborates and drives GI cancers tactical planning. Manages execution of Medical Affairs activities including publication development, insight generation initiatives, medical communications, evidence generation, training, and early access .
  • Serves as a subject matter expert in gastrointestinal oncology with an emphasis on precision therapeutics in pancreas cancer. Assimilates emerging information into existing disease state and competitive context.
  • Develops and manages strategic relationships with GI oncology thought leaders.
  • Facilitates relationships with external societies, advocacy groups, and alliance partner engagements.
  • Leads Medical Affairs GI oncology research studies including phase 4 company sponsored research, registries, investigator sponsored research, collaborative trials, meta- analyses , and retrospective studies. Provides scientific expertise on study design, rationale, and alignment to strategy.
  • Perform all duties in keeping with the Company’s core values, policies, and all applicable regulations .

Required Education and Experience:

  • Advanced degree (MD, PhD, PharmD) in a medical or science specialtypreferred,significant experiencein the medical field may be considered in lieu of an advanced degree
  • 8 + years of related experience at a pharmaceutical company in medical affairs or clinical development role
  • Significant understanding and experience in GI cancers required ; including evolving disease, treatment, and thought leader landscapes
  • Strong scientific acumen required to communicate with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Firm understanding of the strategy and processes that are involved in both the non-clinical and clinical aspects of drug development
  • Strong and timely communication skills, both oral and written, and capability to build trust and respect of partners
  • Leads with influence, vision, and positive intent; culture builder
  • Agility and flexibility in working across diverse therapeutic areas in a fast‑paced growth stage biotech company
  • Proven track record of timely decision making, priorization, and a solution‑oriented mindset in successfully addressing objectives

The anticipated salary range for this position is $270,000 to $325,000 for a non-MD . The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc etera. In addition to base salary, the h ired applicant will be eligible to receive an annual bonus and an equity grant at hire and annually in the form of the option to purchase stock in the future for a specified price.
