Job summary

B is seeking an experienced Water/Wastewater Estimator to join our team in Lexington, KY. You will develop accurate, competitive estimates for water and wastewater infrastructure projects and partner with operations from bid through handoff.

The ideal candidate reads plans, performs takeoffs, analyzes cost, and drives value-engineering ideas. Experience with self-performed work and tools like HCSS, Primavera P6, Bluebeam is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience estimating water and wastewater construction projects.
• Experience with self-performed structural concrete and heavy civil work.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specs and contract documents.
• Strong quantity takeoff, cost analysis and scope review skills.
• Experience with HCSS, Primavera P6, Bluebeam and On-Screen Takeoff.

Responsibilities

• Develop estimates for water and wastewater facilities and related infrastructure.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and pricing for self-performed labor, materials, and equipment.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals and coverage.
• Evaluate project phasing, scheduling, logistics, constructability and sequencing.
• Develop preliminary schedules to support estimating efforts.
• Identify project risks, opportunities, VE ideas and cost-saving strategies.
• Participate in bid reviews with operations and project management.
• Prepare detailed budgets and handoffs to the project team.
• Support subcontractor and supplier buyout after award.
• Partner with operations to set projects up for successful execution.

You'll play a key role in pursuing and planning water and wastewater infrastructure projects, developing accurate, competitive estimates and partnering closely with operations and project management from bid through project handoff.

We're looking for someone who understands water/wastewater construction and self-performed work and can evaluate scope, constructability, risk, and cost—not just perform takeoffs.

What You'll Do:

• Develop estimates for water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, process piping, and related infrastructure.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop pricing for self-performed labor, materials, and equipment.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals and ensure scope coverage.
• Evaluate project phasing, staging, logistics, constructability, and sequencing.
• Develop preliminary schedules to support estimating efforts.
• Identify project risks, opportunities, value-engineering ideas, and cost-saving strategies.
• Participate in bid reviews with operations and project management.
• Prepare detailed project budgets and lead estimating-to-project-team handoffs.

What You Bring:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
• Experience estimating water and/or wastewater construction projects.
• Experience with self-performed structural concrete and/or heavy civil construction.
• Strong understanding of construction means, methods, sequencing, and productivity.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and contract documents.
• Strong quantity takeoff, cost analysis, and scope review skills.
