Job summary

Hire Consulting Services is seeking a Senior Estimator (Mechanical/Civil/Structural) to join our Houston team. You will develop accurate estimates for large-scale industrial EPC and design-build projects, with emphasis on piping and mechanical systems.

You’ll interpret drawings and specs, perform takeoffs, price labor/materials, and collaborate with PM, engineering, and construction teams to validate assumptions and strategies. Minimal travel is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, or 10+ years of experience in lieu of degree.
• 10+ years of estimating experience in industrial construction focusing on mechanical/piping.
• Strong knowledge of civil and structural construction methods and cost drivers.
• Advanced proficiency with Trimble Accubid and Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, isometrics, civil drawings, and structural plans.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Experience supporting EPC or design-build project delivery models (preferred).
• Minimal travel for pre-bid site visits.

About this Role

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Sr. Estimator (Mechanical/Civil/Structural) to join our team in Houston, TX to support a growing portfolio of large-scale construction projects, primarily within the rapidly expanding data center market. Additional projects span the chemical, petrochemical, oil and gas, and other heavy industrial sectors.

The Senior Estimator will play a key role in developing accurate, competitive cost estimates for EPC and design-build projects. This position requires a deep understanding of industrial construction methods, material takeoffs, labor productivity, and cost controls.

What You'll Do

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil, structural, and mechanical construction scopes, with primary emphasis on piping and mechanical systems
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop labor, material, and equipment pricing using Trimble Accubid and Microsoft Excel
• Review drawings, specifications, and scope documents to ensure accurate and complete estimates
• Collaborate with project management, engineering, and construction teams to validate assumptions and execution strategies
• Develop pricing for lump sum, unit rate, and time-and-materials proposals
• Develop construction schedules in Microsoft Project
• Analyze subcontractor and vendor quotes, ensuring alignment with project scope and estimating standards
