Job summary

MasTec Clean Energy & Infrastructure seeks a Senior Estimator to lead large conceptual EPC bids, guiding winning proposal strategies and risk management. Responsibilities

  • Listen to directions from supervisors and implement a plan for duties.
  • Be motivated and work productively.
  • Read and understand company policies and procedures applicable to tasks.
  • Develop understanding of policies and plan/execute work accordingly.
  • Examine office conditions and identify problems and cost-saving measures.
  • Direct and review the work of direct reports; correct deficiencies.
  • Hire, fire, performance appraisals, and pay reviews for direct reports.
  • Produce quality work meeting company policies and industry standards.
  • Identify hazards and take corrective action to minimize them.
  • Respond to safety hazards and warnings appropriately.
  • Provide leadership to other Estimators in assigned industry/market.
  • Lead strategic initiatives related to improvements in company/department/industry.
  • Work hours required to meet deadlines.
  • Manage bid time to prepare a complete estimate.
  • Be a team player and collaborate with other groups.
  • Perform complete conceptual estimates for large, complex EPC projects.
  • Conceptualize portions of the estimate and organize it for review.
  • Maintain professionalism, fairness, and ethical behavior with clients, engineers, vendors, and competitors.
  • Carry out MIC’s Beliefs in daily practice.

Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Estimator position will generally lead large conceptual EPC bids where experience plays a vital role in developing a good estimate. Additionally, this position will be the lead Senior Estimator in a given industry/market.

Senior Estimator will report to the Estimating Manager in their service line. This position will provide leadership and coordination to their given industry/market and will also be assigned to large projects with responsibility for all aspects of RFP requirements, winning proposal strategies, alternate contracting strategies and risk management.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Listen to directions and suggestions from supervisors or other employees regarding safe and proper work practices, evaluate that information and implement a plan based on that evaluation for carrying out the duties of this position.
  • Be motivated and work productively.
  • Read and understand company policies and procedures and other literature and other documents applicable to assigned tasks.
  • With regard to that portion of the work assigned, develop complete understanding of the applicable company policies and procedures and plan and execute the assigned work in accordance with those policies and procedures.
  • Examine/inspect office conditions and/or procedures and identify problems, inaccuracies, and cost saving measures that arise or that may be encountered.
  • Manages the work of direct report(s). Inspect their work for accuracy and compliance with company’s policies and procedures, point out deficiencies and explain and take any corrective action needed.
  • Responsible for hiring, firing, performance appraisals, and pay reviews for direct reports
  • Produce quality work, meeting requirements of the company policies, procedures, and industry standards.
  • Identify workplace hazards and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize them.
  • Understand and respond appropriately to all safety hazards and warnings devices (i.e. back-up alarms, smell of smoke, different color warning tags, warning sirens).
  • Provide leadership, coordination, and guidance to other Estimators (I, II, & III) in their assigned industry or market.
  • Lead strategic initiatives related to company, department or industry/market specific improvements.
  • Work hours required to complete work assigned by established deadlines.
  • Manage the available bid time to insure accurate and timely preparation of a complete estimate.
  • Function as a team player; create an environment where other groups and individuals want to work with you.
  • Perform complete conceptual estimates for large, complex EPC projects from receipt of bid package through final bid review, including site visits, scope determination, MTO, input data into computerized estimating systems, questions to Owner/Engineer and qualifications.
  • Utilize ability and experience to conceptualize portions of estimate.
  • Organize and detail the estimate so that manhours can be properly applied, easily understood for review purposes, and efficiently turned over to the field personnel.
  • When representing MIC to clients, engineers, vendors, or competitors, always maintain the highest standards of professionalism, fairness, and ethical behavior.
