Job summary

Amazon.com Services LLC is seeking a Sr Embedded Software Development Engineer to design, develop, and integrate next-generation devices with embedded Linux. You will work with hardware engineers, system architects, and program managers to implement and troubleshoot kernel drivers and BSP, while developing real-time firmware and security-focused software for the platform.

You will design and maintain C/C++ code for embedded systems, optimize Linux kernel components, port BSPs and graphics

Qualifications

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of programming with C/C++.
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture of new and existing systems.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable C/C++ code for embedded systems.

• Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to problems found during product integration and in the field.

Job description

We are looking for a Sr Embedded Software Development Engineer to help design, develop, and integrate our next generation devices. In this role you will work with customers, system architects, program managers and hardware engineers to implement, troubleshoot, fix kernel drivers, BSP for our next generation devices. You will be responsible for the development of real-time embedded firmware and embedded Linux software that implements security controls for the platform.

Key job responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable C/C++ code for embedded systems
• Debug and troubleshoot issues in kernel drivers, BSP, and OS framework integration
• Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to problems found during product integration and in the field
• Develop and implement low-level embedded software including kernel device drivers, network stack components, platform porting, and other system-level programming activities
• Develop and customize BSP, graphics drivers, and platform ports for next-generation devices
• Develop, port, and test software and firmware layers within the Linux kernel and associated frameworks

Basic Qualifications

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
• Experience in embedded development in C/C++

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
• Deep understanding of operating system internals including process scheduling, memory management, interrupt handling, and device I/O
• Experience with Linux kernel performance profiling and optimization across the full stack (user space, kernel space, driver layer, and hardware interfaces)

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
