Job summary

Kyocera SLD Laser is seeking a Sr. Epitaxy Equipment Maintenance Technician to support our Epitaxy Fabrication operation teams in developing GaN-based laser diode products.

The role focuses on maintaining MOCVD reactors, associated hardware, and process equipment to optimize performance and reliability. You will collaborate with engineers, operators, and technicians while ensuring safety standards and documentation are upheld.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years in semiconductor industry.
• Solid knowledge of MOCVD epitaxy equipment.
• Hands-on mechanical and electrical aptitude.
• Able to work in a cleanroom environment and follow safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and specialized maintenance of MOCVD reactors and related process equipment.
• Maintain facilities supporting MOCVD reactors and gas delivery, filtration, heat exchangers, and vacuum systems.
• Conduct equipment part cleaning and preventive maintenance.
• Troubleshoot failures, determine root causes, and recommend repairs or modifications.
• Inspect equipment and parts, take measurements, and document specifications.
• Prepare SOPs and parts specifications and maintain spare parts inventory.
• Coordinate with vendors to support 24/7 manufacturing operations.

Sr. Epitaxy Equipment Maintenance Technician

Kyocera SLD Laser is looking for an experienced Sr. Epitaxy Equipment Maintenance Technician to join our Epitaxy Fabrication operation teams to support the manufacturing and advanced development of cutting‑edge GaN‑based laser diode products. The successful candidate will directly support our MOCVD tool maintenance activities and work in a team environment to optimize equipment, hardware, and processes.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventative and specialty maintenance of MOCVD reactors, associated process equipment, and characterization tools.
• Maintain facilities supporting MOCVD reactors and associated equipment such as gas delivery systems, gas filtration systems, heat exchangers, vacuum pumps, etc.
• Perform frequent MOCVD reactor hardware parts cleaning.
• Conduct equipment failure troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis, and recommend repairs and modifications.
• Inspect incoming equipment and parts and perform measurements.
• Prepare SOPs and parts specification documentation.
• Maintain inventory control of spare parts and consumables.
• Interface with equipment and facilities vendors to support 24/7 manufacturing operation.
• Participate in safety programs and related certifications.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years’ experience working in the semiconductor industry or similar.
• Solid MOCVD epitaxy equipment knowledge.
• Mechanical and electrical aptitude with a hands‑on approach; related certifications a plus.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to communicate effectively with engineers, operators, and technicians.
• Experience with quality systems and requirements a plus.
• Ability to work in a cleanroom environment.
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Dependable and able to maintain on‑call hours or occasional irregular work hours or work week.
• Good written and organizational skills; proficient in MS Office.
• Self‑driven with the flexibility to work independently or under general guidance.

Safety Responsibilities

• Maintain certifications for response to emergencies (e.g., HAZCOM, HAZOPER, FIRST‑AID, CPR, ERT).
• Properly use safety equipment to analyze risks and emergencies (respirator, gas leak detection, etc.).
• Maintain a strong personal focus on safety for self and others.
• Maintain a safe work environment.

Physical Requirements

• Possibly require medical clearance for respirator use.
• Operate material handling equipment (forklift, hand trucks, pallet jacks, etc.).
• Load and push hand trucks and carts to move equipment.
• Climb stairs and ladders to access areas and equipment.

Salary Information

The full‑time base salary range for the position is $37.00 to $43.00 per hour. Pay is determined by location, skills, experience, and training.
