Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Proficiency with electrical test equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies) and lab work on new and repetitive tasks.
  • Soldering skills to J-STD-001 / IPC-610-A level with surface-mount microsoldering experience.
  • Ability to run consumer electronics device test setups, data collection, and results with scripting/test automation.
  • Experience with macOS and productivity tools (Numbers/Excel, Keynote).
  • Understanding of Bills of Materials and related documentation.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

Description

We're looking for a motivated, detail‑oriented Engineering Technician to support hands‑on hardware rework, test, and validation across early‑stage prototypes and consumer electronics devices. You'll partner closely with engineers and lab management to keep our lab spaces running smoothly, safely, and efficiently.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct PCB reworks, and test and validate your own work
  • Assemble test setups and conduct data collection on electronic assemblies and consumer electronics devices
  • Analyze issues following rework or assembly and flag areas for improvement
  • Assist the lab management team with the upkeep and general support of engineering lab spaces
  • Actively maintain Health and Safety compliance across lab spaces
  • Facilitate and track lab and build materials
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Proficiency in configuring and operating electrical test equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies, etc.) and comfort working in a lab environment on both new and repetitive tasks
  • Soldering skills at J‑STD‑001 / IPC‑610‑A certification level or better, with a focus on surface‑mount microsoldering rework, plus familiarity with basic circuit design, electrical schematics, and troubleshooting techniques
  • Ability to execute consumer electronics device test setups, data collection, and results compilation using scripting and test automation
  • Experience with macOS computers and digital productivity tools (Numbers/Excel, Keynote, etc.)
  • Understanding of complex Bills of Materials and experience with related documentation
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively across a large cross‑functional team
  • Ability to adapt quickly to resets and changes in a time‑sensitive, fast‑paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to make revisions and improvements to bash scripts
  • Experience operating metrology and test equipment (Keyence, robotic systems, etc.)
  • Familiarity with board layout design tools such as Cadence Allegro
  • Experience with PLM tools; Agile experience preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of ESD‑safe work procedures and basic chemical hazards (adhesives, solvents, epoxy, etc.)

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $45.46 and $80.76/hr, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
