Job summary

Exelon is seeking a Document Control Specialist for the T&S Engineering team in Illinois. The role focuses on managing the Document Management System, ensuring regulatory and internal procedures are followed, and supporting engineering initiatives.

Required: technical degree or equivalent experience, strong analytical, organizational, and CAD skills; valid driver’s license; experience with document management systems like BlueCielo Meridian.

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or 3+ years technical experience; associate degree with 5+ years; or 7+ years if non-degreed/ non-technical.
  • Successful completion of TECH test (Bachelor's in Engineering exempts)

  • Knowledge of construction, operations or engineering principles and practices

Responsibilities

  • Organize and maintain the Document Management System with technical data, drawings, specs, and project documents.
  • Ensure procedures are established, followed, and compliant; train personnel as needed.
  • Develop Document Control processes and related procedures.
  • Review documents and changes for compliance; identify gaps and drive improvements.
  • Support engineering initiatives, programs, and cleanup activities.
  • Manage accounts, roles, and privileges in the DMS.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of design processes; participate on teams.
  • Update and manage the DMS; maintain policy/editing accuracy.
  • Provide technical assistance to design technicians; promote safe work environment.

Primary PurposeProvides quality assurance support for T&S Engineering of projects and drawings involving the modification of utility infrastructure on Exelon's systems. Interprets and applies engineering standards, practices, philosophy, and regulatory requirements. Manages document control processes to ensure that tasks are completed in a timely way to comply with internal procedures. Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.

Primary Duties

  • Responsible for organizing and maintaining the Document Management System that consisting of technical data, engineering and supplier drawings, technical specifications, and other project-oriented documents. This can include but not limited to hard copy to digital, electronic scanning, file management, and file tracking.
  • Responsible for ensuring that procedures are established, followed, and maintained in compliance with documented procedures and regulations. Train personnel on the Document Management’s system, practices, and procedures as needed.
  • Developing T&S Engineering Document Control specific processes and associated procedures.
  • Serve as a Document Control reviewer, ensuring documents and changes comply with established requirements of T&S Engineering department. Highlight problem areas and make process improvements where possible.
  • Support engineering initiatives, programs, clean-up activities and other assignments as needed.
  • Managing accounts, roles, and privileges within the document management system.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of current design processes. Participates on teams; (e.g. Design high voltage transmission and distribution circuits, meeting all engineering standards and criteria)
Job Scope
  • Updating and managing the T&S Engineering Document Management System.
  • Maintain a high-level capability for attention to detail when editing and maintaining applicable policies, procedures, forms, and drawings.
  • Proactively monitor and facilitate timely document reviews and approvals by collaborating with appropriate representatives.
  • Provides technical assistance to engineering design technicians and associate engineering design technicians.
  • Applies technical knowledge to help promote a safe work environment and to enhance customer satisfaction.
Minimum Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in a technical field and 3 or more years of technical experience, an associate's degree in a technical field and 5 or more years of technical experience, or 7 or more years of technical experience or relevant education if non-degreed or a non-technical degree.
  • Successful completion of the Technician Occupations Selection Systems (TECH) test. (A Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university exempts the TECH Test requirement.)
  • Ability to analyze and interpret electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills
  • Knowledge and ability to apply problem-solving approaches.
  • Knowledge of construction, operations or engineering principles and practices.
  • Broad knowledge and experience with regulations, guides, standards, codes, methods, and practices necessary to perform routine assignments for a specific discipline installations, or service.
  • Proficient Computer Drawing and Computer Assisted Design skills.
  • Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering technology Equivalent Relevant Education / Experience bachelor's degree (technical field) (1) AND 3 or more years of relevant technical experience. Non-degreed or non-technical degree equivalent relevant education (2) AND 7 or more years of relevant technical experience
  • Associates Degree in Business Management or related discipline or equivalent work experience
  • Experience with electronic document management systems, like BlueCielo Meridian, and knowledge of documentation management processes.
  • Experience working in regulated environments like IT security, data privacy, CEII, and NERC CIP.
  • Intermediate skills in MS Office, AutoCAD, and general computer functions.

  • Annual salary will vary based on a candidate’s skills, qualifications, experience, and other factors: $87,200.00/Yr. – $119,900.00/Yr.
