Job summary

LPL Financial is seeking a Senior Engineer, Software Development Test (QE) to design, implement, and execute automated quality engineering strategies across web, API, and enterprise platforms. You will develop automated testing solutions, validate software functionality, and partner with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality software delivery throughout the SDLC.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Software Quality Engineering, QA, or SDET roles.
  • Experience designing automated testing using Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, JUnit/TestNG/NUnit, Postman, JMeter.
  • Proficient in Java, C#, or Python.
  • Experience in Agile environments and integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines.
  • API testing, SQL validation, and non-functional testing incl. performance/security.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable automated test frameworks and test suites for web, API, and enterprise apps.
  • Create and execute detailed test plans, cases, and scenarios for coverage of functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineers, product owners, and stakeholders to define testing strategies and standards.
  • Identify, document, prioritize, and track defects; support resolution and validation with dev teams.
  • Perform functional, API, integration, regression, performance, security, and UAT testing.
  • Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous delivery and release quality.
  • Participate in architecture reviews and code reviews to promote testability and quality.
  • Monitor test results, quality metrics, and defect trends; report status to stakeholders.
  • Improve quality engineering tools, processes, and best practices.
  • Mentor junior quality engineers and promote quality-focused practices.

Job Overview

LPL Financial is seeking a Senior Engineer, Software Development Test (QE) to design, implement, and execute comprehensive quality engineering strategies across a variety of technology platforms and applications. This role is responsible for developing automated testing solutions, validating software functionality and performance, and partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality software delivery throughout the software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable automated test frameworks and test suites for web, API, and enterprise applications.
  • Create and execute detailed test plans, test cases, and test scenarios to ensure coverage of functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, product owners, business stakeholders, and other technology teams to define testing strategies and quality standards.
  • Identify, document, prioritize, and track software defects, partnering with development teams to support issue resolution and validation.
  • Perform functional, integration, regression, performance, security, and user acceptance testing activities.
  • Integrate automated testing solutions into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous delivery and release quality.
  • Participate in architecture reviews, design discussions, and code reviews to promote testability and quality throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Monitor test execution results, quality metrics, and defect trends, providing regular status updates to project stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the improvement of quality engineering tools, processes, standards, and best practices.
  • Mentor junior quality engineers and support the growth of quality-focused engineering practices across the organization.

Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in Software Quality Engineering, Quality Assurance, or Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) roles.
  • Experience designing and implementing automated testing solutions using tools and frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, JUnit, TestNG, NUnit, Postman, JMeter, or similar technologies.
  • Proficiency in at least one object-oriented programming language, such as Java, C#, or Python.
  • Experience working within Agile software development environments and integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience performing API testing, database validation using SQL, and non-functional testing activities including performance or security testing.

  • Experience with performance testing tools, security testing methodologies, and test data management strategies.
  • Experience within the financial services, fintech, or regulated industry environments.
Pay Range

$91,400.00 - $152,400.00

Actual base salary varies based on factors, including but not limited to, relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location.
