Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a Reliability & Maintainability Engineer to join our Product Safety, Reliability and Maintainability team. You will apply reliability techniques across the system lifecycle and collaborate with design and engineering teams to support mission-critical aircraft and spacecraft programs.

This onsite role requires a STEM degree and active U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain a SECRET clearance.

Qualifications

  • Requires STEM degree with 5+ years experience or advanced degree with 3+ years experience
  • U.S. citizenship required; only U.S. citizens eligible for security clearance
  • Active and transferable SECRET clearance required prior to start date
  • Experience applying reliability/maintainability techniques to systems requirements
  • Experience supporting design teams to verify reliability & maintainability for mission-critical systems
  • Experience in FMECA, reliability predictions, FRACAS, and BIT design/verification

What You Will Do
  • Supports program development through the application of reliability and maintainability techniques
  • Participates in all phases of program life cycle, utilizing reliability and maintainability methodologies as they apply in our systems engineering processes in accordance with military standards such as MIL-HDBK-217, MIL-HDBK-338B, MIL-HDBK-470, MIL-STD-1629A
  • Provides input to the development of Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Reliability Maintainability analysis and predictions, Reliability Critical Items List, and Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS)
  • Provides support to reliability and maintainability modeling and predictions analysis, testability analysis, maintainability and built-in-test demonstrations, environmental testing, FMEA/FMECA, and FRACAS
  • Serve as a Reliability & Maintainability representative to engineering and business leadership
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued SECRET security clearance is required prior to start date
  • Experience with systems engineering lifecycle; knowledge of how to apply reliability and maintainability techniques to systems requirements
  • Experience supporting design and development teams to develop, assess, and verify Reliability & Maintainability related requirements for mission-critical systems
  • Experience in conducting/developing Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Reliability & Maintainability analysis and predictions, Reliability Critical Items List, and Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS), Built In Test (BIT) design / verification analysis, and/or testability analysis
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Experience in technical proposal preparation related to Reliability & Maintainability
  • Experience using industry recognized tools such as Relyence, Reliasoft, Windchill, or eXpress
  • Experience planning and conducting Accelerated Stress Testing, or a willingness to learn and apply those techniques, such as Highly Accelerated Life Test processes (HALT), Reliability Enhancement Test (RET), Environmental Stress Screening (ESS), Highly Accelerated Stress Screening (HASS)
  • Knowledge of systems architectures and designs
  • Knowledge of basic circuit analysis and the ability to perform detailed analyses on complex systems
  • Understanding of military aircraft-related missions, functional operation, performance specifications, and validation techniques
  • Familiarity with agile development and model-based systems engineering (MBSE)
  • Oral/written communication and presentations skills, with the ability to effectively interact and build trust with team members including engineering management, engineering teams, program management, business development, support groups, and subcontractors

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
