Job summary

DIRTT Environmental Solutions is seeking a Sr Engineer, Product Development to drive the design and development of advanced interior systems. You will lead engineering projects, create innovative, cost-effective solutions and mentor junior engineers to grow the team’s capabilities.

You’ll collaborate with project managers, product managers, and clients to ensure quality, schedule, and budget objectives are met while maintaining thorough documentation and adherence to relevant standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related field).
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng., or PE) license.
  • 5 years of proven experience in product design and engineering services.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, MATLAB, ANSYS, etc.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; ability to work collaboratively.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the design and development of engineering projects, ensuring quality, budget, and timeline objectives.
  • Create and optimize product designs, meeting industry standards and client specifications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Implement and enforce quality control processes throughout design and development phases.
  • Identify and address engineering challenges with practical solutions.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation including design specs and drawings.
  • Engage with clients to understand needs and ensure satisfaction with the final product.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices.

Who You Are

The Sr Engineer, Product Development will play a critical role in driving the success of DIRTT projects by leading the design and development efforts. They will be responsible for creating innovative, efficient, and cost-effective solutions that meet DIRTTs clients’ requirements. They should have deep understanding of engineering principles, strong technical expertise, and the ability to manage and mentor junior team members.


What You’ll Do

  • Create and optimize product designs, ensuring they meet or exceed industry standards and client specifications.

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including project managers, product managers, and other engineers, to ensure seamless project execution.

  • Implement and enforce quality control processes to ensure the highest standards are met throughout the design and development phases.

  • Identify and address engineering challenges, proposing creative and practical solutions to meet project objectives.

  • Maintain accurate and organized project documentation, including design specifications, technical drawings, and reports.

  • Collaborate with clients to understand their specific needs, provide technical insights, and ensure their satisfaction with the final product.

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, helping them develop their skills and contribute to the team's success.

  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices to continually improve the quality of our designs and engineering services.


What You’ll Bring

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related field).

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng., or PE) license.

  • 5 years of proven experience in product design and engineering services, with a proven track record of successful project delivery.

  • Proficiency in industry-standard design and analysis tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, MATLAB, ANSYS, etc.).

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and analytically.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.

  • Leadership and mentorship experience is a plus.

  • Knowledge of relevant industry regulations and standards.
