Senior Engineer – Network Edge Switching

As a Senior Engineer on our Network Edge LAN Switching team, you will help evolve the Switching infrastructure across all Stores, Distribution Centers, and Headquarters locations. The Edge Switching platform is critical to deliver Target’s purpose of helping families discover everyday joy.

Required Qualifications

• 4‑year degree or equivalent experience
• 2–5+ years of networking experience
• Strong knowledge of network switching topologies (L2, L3)
• Strong knowledge of L2/L3/L4 protocols (BGP, Spanning Tree, LACP, VRRP, MCLAG)
• Experience with CI/CD technologies (Git, Jenkins/Drone)
• Programming experience in Python, Java, or Go
• Proficiency with Linux operating systems
• Understanding of network design and architecture concepts
• Clear technical documentation production
• Troubleshooting routine and moderately complex issues with minimal assistance
• Effective collaboration within the team and support for shared priorities
• Commitment to continuous learning and professional growth

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible or SaltStack
• Experience with EVPN and VXLAN

Hybrid/Flex Work Arrangement

The role is hybrid/flex. Core duties are performed onsite at the Target HQ in Minnesota and virtually as required. Work must remain within the country of the primary work location unless otherwise authorized.
