Job description

Sr. Engineer I, Manufacturing (Textiles)

Modern Meadow was founded to address the pressing global challenge: the materials that underpin the way we live, work, and play and that support our well‑being are fundamentally unsustainable. INNOVERA™ redefines what's possible across the automotive, footwear, furniture and fashion accessories spaces, creating high-performance products with a lower environmental impact. Versatile, functional, immediately scalable and adaptable to any process, INNOVERA™ flows seamlessly with creativity: a material that works in perfect harmony with the legacy of tanneries and brands, without compromising on quality or performance. We are seeking a Process Engineer with a strong background in textile materials and manufacturing, with expertise in scaling new textile production processes into contract manufacturing (CM) environments. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience developing and optimizing production workflows, transitioning processes from pilot to full‑scale, and driving efficiency across multiple contract manufacturing partners. This role requires a strong understanding of contract manufacturing operations and the ability to collaborate with external partners to ensure smooth process scale‑up, cost efficiency, and consistent quality in commercial production within a textile environment. The Process Engineer will work closely with R&D, quality, supply chain, and external manufacturing teams to drive innovation in sustainable textile production.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Ensure successful tech transfer, scale‑up, and process optimization at contract manufacturing sites.
  • Support and manage contract manufacturers, ensuring they can meet scaling and production needs.
  • Provide technical and quality management leadership by preparing technical documents and manuals (including SOP, PF, FMEA, Control Plan).
  • Maintain communication across all stakeholders, manage resources, make optimal decisions and implement risk‑mitigation strategies.
  • Perform technoeconomic analysis to guide the sponsoring team in making successful business choices for capital projects.
  • Interface with product development and business functions to collectively unlock technology potential and phase in new customers and partners.
  • Develop new technology platforms or product concepts to offer unique solutions or address unmet needs in different application areas such as automotive, footwear, and upholstery.
Experience, Skills & Knowledge
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, physical sciences, or other relevant fields, with at least 10 years of relevant experience in material companies addressing key markets such as automotive, footwear, and upholstery.
  • Proven experience in manufacturing and troubleshooting of (1) various fiber and textile constructs and (2) unit operations such as coatings, impregnations, finishing and laminating.
  • Proficient in experimental design/DOE, statistical analysis, Six Sigma tools, and process optimization.
  • Organized and detail oriented, particularly regarding maintaining records and documentation.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining accuracy and quality of work.
  • Critical thinker, problem solver, innovator, eager to learn, strong team player and good interpersonal skills.
  • Strong commitment to safety and providing safety leadership within the team.
  • Up‑to‑date knowledge of sustainable practices and industry trends to improve product sustainability metrics.
  • Potential of domestic and international travel up to 25%.
We Offer
  • Competitive compensation that includes equity.
  • Retirement planning (401k matching).
  • Flexible paid time off.
  • Winter Break (company observed reset and recharge, final week of the year).
  • Commuter benefits.
  • Comprehensive benefit plans covering medical, dental, vision, life, and disability.
  • Identity theft and legal services (LifeLock and LegalShield).
  • Family services that include fertility benefits and equal paid parental leave.

Salary Range: $110,000 – $140,000 annually. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, and internal equity. Modern Meadow is an equal opportunity employer.
