Job summary

Target is seeking a Senior Engineer - Full Stack to lead design and implementation of the Tile collaboration tool used by designers and merchants. You will connect the frontend React/TypeScript app to Postgres, GraphQL, and Kafka-based data pipelines, while shaping the architecture for reliability and scale.

You will work hybrid from Minneapolis with responsibilities to improve observability, deploy patterns, and collaborate across product teams to deliver high-quality, customer-focused features

Qualifications

• 4-year degree or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of software development experience including React/TypeScript, Postgres, GraphQL, Kafka and enterprise backend stack.
• Demonstrates strong enterprise architecture fundamentals.
• Demonstrates knowledge of testing frameworks/patterns for frontend systems.
• Experience with package-specific configuration and deployment; ability to build custom solutions.
• Strong communication of Agile concepts within product teams.

Responsibilities

You help develop and gain insight in the application architecture. You can distill an abstract architecture into concrete design and influence the implementation. You leverage your expertise in eliminating repeat occurrences. **About this Team:**The Tile team maintains a collaborative editing tool that enables designers and merchants within Target to design and develop new product for Target. Our goal is to ensure that product design and ideation is connected to Target’s product development ecosystem. This enables us to reduce toil for our designers by obviating labor intensive and error-prone manual data copying and reconciliation. As our product grows, we will be working on a combination of usability/quality-of-life features to ensure that our users have a best-in-class editing tool, as well as opinionated workflows to enable users to bring their designs to life within Target.Use your skills, experience and talents to be a part of groundbreaking thinking and visionary goals. Job duties may change at any time due to business needs. **About you:*** 4-year degree or equivalent experience* 5+ years of software development experience, including a healthy mix of experience with: + React/Typescript and common front-end implementation patterns. + Relational databases, particularly Postgres. + GraphQL and common patterns for query optimization/performance tuning. + Kafka and common patterns for building enterprise messaging pipelines. + Strong knowledge of a common enterprise backend stack.* Demonstrates strong enterprise architecture fundamentals (e.g. “why do we put a service layer in front of a database”)* Demonstrates knowledge of common testing frameworks/patterns for front-end systems.* Working knowledge on package-specific configuration and deployment along with ability to build custom solutions* Designs new testing methods and resolves routine and non-routine technical issues with minimal assistance* Demonstrates strong proficiency in core development platforms within own domain* Builds strong commitment within the team to support the appropriate team priorities* Clearly communicates Agile concepts to partners within product team* Demonstrates a solid understanding of the impact of own work on the team and/or guests* Writes and organizes code using multiple computer languages, including distributed programming and understand different frameworks and paradigm* Delivers high-performance, scalable, repeatable, and secure deliverables with broad impact (high throughput and low latency)* Influences and applies data standards, policies, and procedures* Maintains technical knowledge within areas of expertise* Stays current with new and evolving technologies via formal training and self-directed education This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs.
