Job summary

Fresenius Kabi seeks a Senior Engineer, Control Systems, to design and develop embedded control software for the Ivenix infusion pump in Andover, MA. This role involves real-time software development, documentation, and testing under moderate supervision.

Responsibilities include MATLAB/Simulink-based algorithm development, C/C++ coding, and hardware/software integration, with a focus on robust motion-control logic and software verification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Physical Science.
• 2+ years with complex, software-driven electro-mechanical systems; medical device software a plus.
• 1-2 years with MATLAB and Simulink; exposure to Simulink Coder, Stateflow, Simscape or related tools a plus.
• 1-2 years solving complex problems across multiple physical domains; pneumatics/fluids preferred.
• Experience with unit testing of embedded software; C/C++ and Python proficiency; Linux preferred.
• Strong teamwork, analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Design, code, document and test software components for medical device control systems.
• Plan, document and perform software verification testing for large medical device software.
• Support configuration management for products with multiple field versions.
• Create and refine flow control algorithms using MATLAB, StateFlow and C/C++.
• Develop and tune motion-control logic for system motors and actuators.
• Develop Simulink models and hardware/software test protocols to optimize control algorithms.
• Design, develop and unit-test models and C/C++ code with best practices.
• Support continuous improvement of motion-control logic for manufacturing tools.
• Perform static code analysis on production code for Ivenix pump deployment.
• Contribute data analysis and display tools using Python.
• Participate in integration/testing of software and hardware; root-cause analysis.
• Assist Test and V&V Engineers during Functional and Performance testing.
• Manage personal schedule and track progress toward project milestones.

Job Summary

The Senior Engineer, Control Systems, works on the design and development of the control systems embedded in the Ivenix infusion pump. This experienced engineering position, under moderate supervision, participates in designing, coding, documenting, testing, and maintenance of real-time embedded software and accessory software products. Applies standard engineering practices to resolve moderately complex problems.

Salary Range: $98,000-$105,000 based on experience

Responsibilities

Designs, codes, documents and tests software components for medical devices which comply to documented interfaces and are developed under standard operating procedures for regulated medical devices.

Participates in planning, documenting, executing, and reporting on software verification testing of large medical device software applications

Supports configuration management activities for products with multiple field versions.

Creates and refines flow measurement and control algorithms using a combination of MATLAB, StateFlow, and C/C++ source code

Develops and tunes motion-control logic for system motors and actuators

Develops Simulink models and hardware/software test protocols to test and optimize the control algorithms

Designs, develops, and unit-tests models and C/C++ source code while applying best practices and methodologies

Supports continuous improvement of motion-control logic for manufacturing tools

Performs static code analysis of production code to be deployed to the Ivenix pump

Contributes data analysis and display tools using Python

Participates in integration and test of software and hardware

Participates in failure and root-cause analysis activities

Supports Test and V&V Engineers as they conduct Functional and Performance testing

Manages personal schedule and task execution for assigned project deliverables, and tracks progress to the overall program schedule.

Requirements

• Bachelors in Engineering or Physical Science
• 2+ years of experience working with complex, software-driven electro-mechanical systems; medical device software-development experience a plus
• 1-2 years of experience working with MATLAB and Simulink; experience with Simulink Coder, Stateflow, Simscape, Visual State, or Quantum Leaps a plus
• 1-2 years of experience addressing complex problems in multiple physical domains; experience with pneumatic and fluidic systems and components preferred
• Working knowledge of hierarchical state machine control and non-linear control system design schemes
• Experience with unit testing of embedded software
• Proficiency with C, C++, and Python; experience working in Linux operating systems preferred
• Able to work as part of an iterative team, collaborating with peers, stakeholders and test engineers
• Ability to employ high-level analytical and problem-solving techniques
