Job description

As a Senior Electronics Technician, you will serve as a bridge between engineering design and practical implementation. You will lead hardware prototyping, assembly, testing and fabrication optimization of complex software defined radio (SDR) based systems. This role requires a blend of hands‑on electrical and mechanical technical mastery and analytical problem solving to support daily operational engineering tasks. Furthermore, you will ensure all customer destined products meet rigorous quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prototyping & Development: Build, test and troubleshoot electrical components, subassemblies, prototypes and production units. Develop and maintain specialized equipment to support R&D and production.
  • Engineering Support: Act as a primary resource for engineers by assisting with daily tasks such as unit prototyping, fabricating customer products, performing component and system‑level tests and providing actionable feedback on design feasibility and effectiveness.
  • Advanced Troubleshooting: Diagnose complex malfunctions in electronic circuitry, computer systems and printed circuit board (PCB) assemblies down to the component level using schematics and test equipment.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct detailed inspections of products and internal processes. Ensure full compliance with performance specifications, industry standards and safety codes.
  • Manufacturing Process Improvement: Identify bottlenecks in manufacturing and implement technical solutions to improve production efficiency and reliability.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed technical logs and assist in developing production assembly instructions.
  • Technical Analysis: Use CAD software for design review and data analysis tools to evaluate system performance. Utilize Linux and Python environments for testing or automation tasks.
  • Leadership & Training: Mentor junior technicians, provide technical guidance and oversee some shop operations.
Required Qualifications
  • Education: Associate’s degree in Electronics Engineering Technology, a related technical field or equivalent military training.
  • Experience: Proven track record in building and troubleshooting complex electronic hardware. Minimum of 5 to 10 years of progressive hands‑on experience in electronics fabrication, testing, repair and maintenance.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong hands‑on electrical and mechanical aptitude
    • Fabrication of coaxial cable assemblies, wiring harnesses, control cables and AC and DC power cables
    • Execute high reliability soldering (surface mount and through‑hole) for RF circuit boards and interface modules
    • Experience with RF components, subassemblies and systems
    • Operation of test equipment and tools including precision soldering stations, multimeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, drill presses and powered hand tools
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel, computer aided design (CAD) and data analysis software
    • Familiarity with Linux and Python command line environments (programming experience is a plus)
    • Ability to interpret system block diagrams, technical schematics and equipment documentation
Additional Skills & Attributes
  • Safety Standards: Knowledge of OSHA regulations and electrostatic discharge (ESD) protocols.
  • Communication: Excellent written and oral communication skills for coordinating with technical and non‑technical personnel.
  • Teaming: Able to collaborate in cross‑functional team environments while also being a self‑starter who can work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Physical Demands:
    • High manual dexterity and steady hands for soldering and working with miniature components (e.g., 0402 packages) and operating delicate equipment
    • Ability to see small details at close range with normal prescription eyeglasses and distinguish color coded wiring, cables and components
    • Capable of independently lifting, pushing, pulling or carrying tools and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs in laboratory or field environments
    • Capacity to work in a lab environment, confined equipment room spaces and occasionally outdoor field conditions subject to environmental factors (temperature, rain, wind, etc.)
