Job summary

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree or technical certification in electronics preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in electronics, instrumentation, laboratory systems, or related technical roles.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex electronic systems and instrumentation preferred.
  • Relevant certifications in soldering, RF systems, electronics, instrumentation, or high‑voltage systems are preferred.
  • Forklift and crane certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, wire, troubleshoot, and maintain electronic systems, control panels, instrumentation, and laboratory equipment.
  • Read and interpret electronic, electrical, instrumentation, wiring, and mechanical drawings to support fabrication, testing, and system integration.
  • Test electronic and electrical circuits for continuity, voltage, signal integrity, functionality, and overall system performance.
  • Collaborate effectively with engineers and technicians to troubleshoot issues, improve designs, and support commissioning activities.
  • Assist with light mechanical assembly, fabrication, hose connections, and equipment installation during periods of reduced electronic workload.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following safety procedures.

Job description

The Sr. Electronic Technician will support the assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of complex electronic systems, instrumentation, and controls used across our laboratories and field operations. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on technical professional with strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and experience working with complex electronic assemblies, instrumentation, and communication systems.

Essential functions
  • Assemble, wire, troubleshoot, and maintain electronic systems, control panels, instrumentation, and laboratory equipment in accordance with engineering drawings and schematics.
  • Read and interpret electronic, electrical, instrumentation, wiring, and mechanical drawings to support fabrication, testing, and system integration.
  • Fabricate, terminate, install, and troubleshoot instrumentation and communication cabling used throughout laboratory and field systems.
  • Utilize electronic test equipment, calibration instruments, and hand tools to diagnose, repair, validate, and optimize system performance.
  • Test electronic and electrical circuits for continuity, voltage, signal integrity, functionality, and overall system performance.
  • Assemble, install, and maintain instrumentation used to measure pressure, temperature, flow, level, and other operational parameters.
  • Conduct quality inspections of fabricated components, assemblies, and wiring to verify compliance with engineering specifications and quality standards.
  • Support documentation efforts by accurately recording testing activities, modifications, repairs, calibration results, and fabrication processes.
  • Collaborate effectively with engineers and technicians to troubleshoot issues, improve designs, and support commissioning activities.
  • Assist with light mechanical assembly, fabrication, hose connections, and equipment installation during periods of reduced electronic workload.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following established laboratory and field safety procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Demonstrated experience working with electronic assemblies, instrumentation, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Proficiency using multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, calibration equipment, and other electronic testing tools.
  • Experience soldering, wiring, terminating, and assembling electronic components and circuit boards.
  • High attention to detail with a commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with engineering and operations teams.
  • Familiarity with startup or high‑growth environments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Supervisory responsibilities
  • May provide technical guidance and training to junior technicians.
  • May coordinate the work of contractors or vendors to ensure work is completed in accordance with project requirements.
  • This role does not include formal people‑management responsibilities.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree or technical certification in electronics, electrical technology, instrumentation, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in electronics, instrumentation, laboratory systems, or related technical roles.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex electronic systems and instrumentation preferred.
  • Relevant certifications in soldering, RF systems, electronics, instrumentation, or high‑voltage systems are preferred.
  • Forklift and crane certification preferred.
Physical requirements
  • The employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, as well as use hands to feel, reach, grasp, handle, or operate objects, tools and/or controls.
  • The employee must be able to lift, push, pull, transfer, or move items up 20 pounds at times for departmental needs.
  • Ability to move from one worksite to another or travel to various job sites and locations to complete tasks.
  • The vision requirement includes reviewing written and electronic materials in digital and physical format.
  • Ability to work safely around high voltage and high power systems, consistently prioritizing safe work environments and adhering to established safety protocols and procedures.
