Job summary

Planet Group is seeking a Senior Electrical Project Engineer to join the Central Engineering organization. Location is flexible; travel for project work across the US is required.

The SME will apply advanced engineering knowledge to complex assignments in Instrument and Electrical Engineering, reporting to Central Engineering. The role leads teams, approves docs, develops scopes, and participates in MOC/PHAs, with responsibilities spanning commissioning, project planning, and cross-functional

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• 12+ years of engineering experience with exposure to the chemical industry.
• Knowledge of PSM, specifically electrical standards.
• Knowledge and application of NEC current standards.
• Familiarity with construction bulk materials and equipment specs.
• Familiarity with 15kV power system equipment and installation techniques.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and approves Electrical Engineering Documents during project phases.
• Develops electrical project scopes and vendor selection participation.
• Leads project teams and coordinates with internal/external resources.
• Initiates MOC and participates in PHA/LOPA analyses.
• Participates in commissioning and startup activities.
• Develops schedules, assigns tasks, and analyzes benchmarks.
• Represents the organization on contracts as a technical contact.
• Ensures compliance with policies, procedures, and standards.
• Acts as SME in the discipline and assists in developing procedures.

Pay Range: $90-100/hour

Senior Electrical Project Engineer

Engineer will report into the Central Engineering organization. Location is flexible but individual should be willing to travel for project work as needed throughout the US. This Engineer is a subject matter expert (SME) who, working with little or no supervision, can apply advanced scientific and engineering knowledge and ingenuity to complete complex assignments related to the Instrument and Electrical Engineering discipline.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and approves Electrical Engineering Documents during all project phases.
• Develops electrical project scopes, plans, and participates in vendor selection.
• Leads and manages project teams with internal and external resources to complete electrical engineering deliverables. Interacts with both senior management and external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.
• Initiates Management of Change (MOCs) and participates in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA and LOPA).
• Participates in Commissioning and Startup Activities.
• Identifies, plans, and conducts projects of various sizes/complexities within engineering specialty requiring custom, risk-managed execution plans, investigations, and/or equipment. Analyzing project specifications, developing work schedules, and delegating tasks to different teams.
• Conducts data sourcing and analysis for the development of benchmarks internally and externally.
• Conceptualizes complete solutions. Creates or coordinates the design solutions for novel or complex problems; integrates regulatory and operational needs; assesses cost benefit. Structures studies and integrate cross-disciplinary and cross-functional issues to arrive at optimal course of action.
• Represents the organization as a technical contact on contracts and projects.
• Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Engineering policies, procedures, and standards.
• Identified as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the discipline and provides training. Participates in internal, cross-divisional teams to develop and align procedures and standards.

Required Qualifications

• B.S. degree inElectricalEngineering is required.
• Minimum of 12 years of engineering experience, with at least a portion of that experience in the chemical industry.
• Knowledge of PSM, specifically forelectricalstandards.
• Knowledge and application of the current version of the NationalElectricalCode (NEC).
• Familiarity with specifications and installation details of construction bulk materials and equipment.
• Familiarity with 15kV power system equipment and installation techniques both above and below ground.

Preferred Qualifications

• M.S. degree in engineering and/or PE license
• Proficient in Word, Excel, MS Project
• 5+ years of experience using SAP systems
