Job summary

Milwaukee Tool in Brookfield, WI seeks a Sr. Electrical Engineering Technician - Quality to lead prototype PCB assembly quality and drive continuous improvement.

You will program and operate advanced inspection equipment to verify workmanship and IPC compliance, and collaborate with engineers on design for manufacturability. You will coach technicians, analyze defects, and support rework and failure analysis while upholding ESD and safety standards across the REP environment.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or technical certificate required; relevant experience considered in lieu of degree.
  • 5+ years of electronics manufacturing experience with SMT and mixed-technology assemblies.
  • Strong knowledge of IPC-A-610 and electronics workmanship standards.
  • Experience programming/operating automated inspection equipment (AOI, X-Ray, SPI).

Responsibilities

  • Program and operate advanced inspection equipment (AOI, X-Ray, SPI, visual inspection).
  • Serve as quality expert for prototype PCB assembly processes; partner with engineers to improve quality and manufacturability.
  • Analyze defects and trends; drive root cause investigations and corrective actions.
  • Provide real-time quality feedback and process recommendations to assembly personnel and engineering teams.
  • Lead training and mentoring on IPC standards, inspection techniques, and quality best practices.
  • Promote ESD, safety, and quality discipline across assembly and inspection operations.

This role serves as the quality subject matter expert for prototype PCB assembly operations, ensuring electronic assemblies meet the highest standards of workmanship, reliability, and manufacturability. This position is responsible for programming and operating advanced inspection equipment, driving root cause investigations, providing DFM and process feedback to engineering teams, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the prototype manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate combines strong technical inspection skills with a passion for coaching others, solving complex manufacturing challenges, and elevating overall product quality.You’ll be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:Program and operate advanced inspection equipment including AOI, X-Ray, SPI, and visual inspection systems to verify workmanship and compliance to IPC standards.Serve as the primary quality expert for prototype PCB assembly processes, partnering with technicians, engineers, and designers to improve product quality and manufacturability.Analyze assembly defects, inspection findings, and process trends to identify root causes and drive corrective actions.Provide real-time quality feedback and process recommendations to assembly personnel and engineering teams.Conduct detailed inspections of PCB assemblies, solder joints, component placement, polarity, workmanship, and mechanical integration.Perform and support rework, repair, and failure analysis activities using schematics, assembly documentation, and specialized rework equipment.Collaborate with PCB Designers and Electrical Engineers to provide DFM, DFA, and assembly process recommendations early in the development cycle.Provide training, coaching, and technical guidance to technicians and engineers on IPC standards, workmanship expectations, inspection techniques, and quality best practices.Promote and maintain ESD, safety, and quality discipline throughout assembly and inspection operations.What TOOLS you’ll bring with you:Associate Degree from a two-year college or technical school.
