Job summary

Textron Systems is seeking a Sr Electrical Engineering Technician to provide electrical support for design, integration, and maintenance of electrical systems across land robotics, USVs, and other military programs. Travel up to 50% and field-testing experience are valued.

The role involves assembling from drawings, testing, and operating test equipment in a dynamic environment. Candidates should have an associate degree in relevant tech and the ability to obtain a SECRET clearance.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree preferred with 3 years experience.
  • Ability to read drawings and schematics.
  • Proficient with a Fluke DVM and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and operate unmanned systems and support equipment.
  • Troubleshoot electronic and electrical systems.
  • Assist engineers with prototype development and testing.
  • Support offsite testing and demonstrations.
  • Perform lab maintenance, safety audits, and track materials.
  • Use hand tools (soldering iron, wire stripper, crimpers, wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers).
  • Identify and document errors in work orders or drawings.
  • Maintain logbooks and records.
  • Build and test cable assemblies.
  • Operate USVs and manned vessels.
  • Operate overhead cranes and forklift.
  • Work extended/flexible hours to meet program goals.

About This Role

We believe people should love what they do – in a Sr Technician role, you will be responsible for:

Provide electrical support for the design, integration, and maintenance of electrical systems on a variety of technologies, ranging from land robotics to uncrewed surface vessels for military programs in a fast-paced environment. These systems are experimental and cutting-edge technological advancements that are intended to protect the warfighter in various theaters. This individual will have an opportunity to travel, execute experimental military and civil hardware testing, and grow in their role. The position involves supporting lab operations of component integration, modifications, assembly and test, of ground vehicles, air vehicles, and surface vessels. Individuals must be willing to support remote test sites to include serving as a boat operator, safety lookout, as well as maintenance crew member during field testing. Individuals must be able to work from assembly documentation (i.e. work instructions, drawings etc.), parts lists, and diagrams to assemble, wire and install a wide variety of components. May assemble by hand or operate semiautomatic assembly equipment. Operates electronic and mechanical test equipment.

Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in electronic/electrical/engineering technology preferred, and 3 years of experience
  • Ability to interpret drawings and schematics
  • Ability to confidently use a Fluke DVM
  • Boater Safety Course a plus
  • Boating experience preferred
  • Willing to travel up to 50% with international travel possible
  • Basic computer skills such as word processing, spreadsheets, database & technical drawing packages
  • Able to organize and set up tests with minimal guidance
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET level security clearance
  • Must be a team player and able to work with minimum supervision
  • General electrical aptitude and the ability to be certified in IPC standards
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasking
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions
  • Ability to work on naval vessel
  • Ability to work in tight quarters and confined spaces
  • Working knowledge of military specifications is a plus
