Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. in Seattle seeks a Sr. Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design and BoD standardization for AWS data centers. You will craft detailed specifications, coordinate with vendors, and ensure solutions meet quality and budget goals.

You will collaborate across regions, mentor teams, and help drive sustainability and efficiency in critical facilities while contributing to a diverse, inclusive engineering culture at Amazon.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities (e.g., data centers, power generation, oil and gas facilities).
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
• Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities.
• Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, REVIT, BIM 360, etc.).
• 6+ years of design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

• Produce clear and concise documentation such as detailed design specifications, drawings, white papers, wiring schematics and diagrams, and reports.
• Understand and safeguard implementation of the Global Electrical Basis of Design (BoD) by driving standardization in the data center electrical designs.
• Develop strategic solutions that meet or exceed our quality requirements and fit within our budgetary requirements. Capture requirements and turn aspirational company or customer goals into well-defined, achievable and testable specifications and solutions.
• Define project scope and provide technical support for information requests prior to, and during, innovation and research and development projects.
• Work with regional vendors and manufacturers to specify the appropriate electrical equipment.
• Work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions.

Basic Qualifications

• 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities (e.g., data centers, power generation, oil and gas facilities).

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineering or Architectural License.
• Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region.
• Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production.
• Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
• Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Detailed understanding of uninterruptible power sources, diesel generators, electrical switchgear, power distribution units, variable frequency drives, and automatic/static transfer switches. Familiarity with medium voltage distribution systems design.
• Knowledge of electrical power monitoring systems.

Salary and Benefits

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.

• Austin, TX – $136,600.00 – $184,800.00 USD annually.
