Job summary

Intermountain Electronics seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the electrical design for the engineering department, guiding the team on complex projects and documenting designs. You will interface with customers to set strategic direction and mentor other engineers and designers.

You will use AutoCAD Electrical and CAD/3D tools to produce manufacturing drawings, perform advanced calculations, program PLCs/HMIs/PID loops, and contribute to BOMs and project schedules using ERP systems.

Senior Electrical Engineer

The Senior Electrical Engineer leads the electrical engineering design for the engineering department, guiding the team on complex project design and the creation and documentation of these electrical designs. They oversee high-level interfaces within the company and with customers to determine the strategic direction of designs, working with the engineering manager to aid in project planning and mentoring other engineers and designers.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical engineering design of electrical systems for the engineering department, developing designs from scratch and specifying equipment, manufacturing methods, and ensuring systems meet design requirements.
• Use AutoCAD Electrical and other CAD/3D software to design and develop drawings for manufacturing.
• Interface with the company and customers to determine strategic direction of designs.
• Aid in project planning and mentor other engineers and designers in strategic directions.
• Perform advanced electrical calculations for current and new designs.
• Develop instrumentation and electrical/control portions of P&ID drawings, providing feedback to optimize system performance.
• Program PLCs, HMIs, set up PID loop designs, and train team members.
• Use ERP systems, MS Office, Epicor to manage BOMs, research information, and manage project schedules.
• Facilitate teaching of methods for problem solving of electrical designs and equipment.
• Participate in engineering design meetings, improving design methods and processes.
• Lead advanced electrical design reviews for new and existing product designs.
• Maintain regular and consistent job attendance.
• Interface well with both internal and external customers.
• Apply advanced knowledge of the National Electric Code, IEEE standards, MSHA, and other applicable standards.
