Job description

Job Title: Electrical Engineer
Job Description

The Electrical Engineer leads the electrical architecture and detailed design of complex vacuum process equipment from initial concept through manufacturing release. This role converts customer, product, and regulatory requirements into clear electrical specifications that balance performance, safety, cost, and manufacturability. The engineer designs and releases comprehensive electrical schematics, assemblies, layouts, and documentation that integrate power supplies, motion systems, robotics, sensors, and control hardware, while resolving advanced electrical and system-level issues across development, manufacturing, and fielded systems. The position also sets technical direction during design reviews, mentors junior engineers to elevate design quality and consistency, and partners closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless system integration, build, and installation.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the electrical architecture and detailed design of complex vacuum process equipment from concept through manufacturing release.

  • Translate customer, product, and regulatory requirements into clear electrical specifications that balance performance, safety, cost, and manufacturability.

  • Design and release electrical schematics, assemblies, layouts, and documentation integrating power supplies, motion systems, robotics, sensors, and control hardware.

  • Resolve advanced electrical and system-level issues through structured root cause analysis across development, manufacturing, and fielded systems.

  • Set technical direction during design reviews and provide mentorship to junior engineers to improve overall design quality and consistency.

  • Partner with Mechanical, Software, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Field Service teams to ensure seamless system integration, build, and installation.

  • Plan and execute electrical tests and design of experiments, and translate test data into actionable engineering recommendations.

  • Perform PLC control cabinet design and ensure robust, compliant control solutions for industrial machinery.

  • Address obsolescence issues for parts and designs, and develop updated solutions that maintain or improve system performance.

  • Integrate power supplies, motion controllers, PLCs, and electrical interfaces into larger equipment platforms.

  • Apply working knowledge of vacuum equipment, robotics, and motion control systems to optimize system performance and reliability.

  • Ensure designs align with CE, UL, TUV, and RoHS requirements and support design-for-compliance practices.

  • Create clear documentation and presentations that distill complex technical concepts for diverse internal and external audiences.

  • Collaborate across disciplines and influence technical decisions without direct authority to drive successful project outcomes.

Essential Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 8+ years of capital equipment design experience, or a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 6+ years of capital equipment design experience.

  • Demonstrated ownership of electrical design for complex electromechanical systems.

  • Professional experience using AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, or a comparable electrical CAD platform.

  • Advanced expertise in analog and digital circuit design, including schematic development, testing, and formal release.

  • Hands-on ability to debug electrical issues using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and component-level analysis.
