Job description

Beacon Hill is looking for Design Engineers to support the engineering and construction of electric substation projects, including equipment replacements, capacity upgrades, reliability improvements, and automation initiatives. The role is responsible for developing detailed substation design packages using AutoCAD software, including one-line diagrams, protection and control schematics, station service drawings, grounding plans, and equipment layouts. The engineer collaborates closely with civil, protection, and construction teams to coordinate project requirements, conduct design reviews, and ensure designs meet quality, schedule, and budget objectives. Additional responsibilities include preparing material lists, technical documentation, and project reports while maintaining a strong focus on safety, teamwork, and operational excellence.

Required Skills:

• 5+ years of utility design experience
• Knowledge of Single-Line Diagrams and Physical Layouts
• Looking for someone that is familiar with 3D modeling, SCADA, protection & control schematics, AC/DC schematics, equipment layouts, conduit schedules, bill of materials (BOM)
• Experience with AutoCAD
• Medium to high voltage experience
• 600 kV or above

Bonus:

• Substation specific experience
• AutoCAD electrical experience
• P4A experience
