Job summary

UCLA Health in Burbank, CA, is seeking an experienced Echo Technician to perform 2D echoes, M‑mode, and Doppler studies under Cardiac Imaging Physicians. You will prepare preliminary interpretations, notify physicians of urgent findings, and maintain records for all echo studies.

The role requires ARDMS-RDCS credentials for adult and pediatric/fetal studies, a Cardiac Echocardiography Technology program degree, and at least 3 years of echo experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate of Cardiac Echocardiography Technology Program is required.
• ARDMS-RDCS AE for adult echo and ARDMS-RDCS PE for pediatric echo.
• At least 3 years of adult or pediatric/fetal echo tech experience.
• BLS Card from AHA or ARC.
• Knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology.
• Ability to apply ultrasound technique to clinical evaluation.
• Ability to move and operate heavy echo equipment.
• Proficiency with PC and word processing to generate reports.
• Ability to prepare and maintain logs for billing and records.
• Ability to work independently and manage tasks timely.
• Strong interpersonal skills with patients and staff.
• Ability to read and follow physician orders.
• Ability to deliver BCLS.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

In this position, under the supervision of the UCLA Cardiac Imaging Physicians, you will perform all 2-dimensional echoes, M-mode, and Doppler studies. Responsibilities include notifying Cardiac Imaging Physicians for any urgent and/or Pre-Operative Echo Readings, preparing preliminary interpretation of those studies, and preparing and maintaining records pertinent to echo studies. You will also perform other duties as assigned and directed by the UCLA Cardiac Imaging Physicians and Manager.

Salary: $77.66 hourly

Job Qualifications

Required:

• Graduate of Cardiac Echocardiography Technology Program
• Adult: ARDMS-RDCS (AE)
• Pediatrics: ARDMS-RDCS (PE)
• At least 3 years of Adult or Pediatric/Fetal echo tech experience
• BLS Card from AHA or ARC
• Knowledge and ability to apply knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology.
• Ability to apply theory to practice in the application of ultrasound technique to the clinical evaluation of the target anatomy.
• Ability to push the 500+ lb. echo machine for distances up to 100 feet within the office.
• Skill and manual dexterity to manipulate transducer and buttons, and knobs on the echo machine to obtain optimal studies.
• Knowledge, skill, and ability to use P.C. and word processing software to generate written preliminary reports.
• Knowledge, skill, and ability to make preliminary evaluations of echo studies to generate written preliminary reports.
• Ability to prepare and maintain log of procedures, track charge documents, compare activity records, and determine that all studies are billed and collected for.
• Ability to work independently and complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal to no direction.
• Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, physicians, nurses, staff, and others in a professional and courteous manner.
• Ability to read, interpret, apply, and/or follow physician orders, policies, procedures, or written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to deliver basic cardiac life support (BCLS)
