Job summary

The National Milk Producers Federation is seeking a Sr. Director, Trade Policy to drive U.S. dairy trade priorities and coordinate with industry partners, with a strong emphasis on market access in Latin America.

You will develop strategies, monitor global developments, and craft briefing documents, policy papers, talks, and presentations for external audiences while organizing events to promote export growth.

Qualifications

• Approximately 7 years of experience in food/agricultural trade policy or related field.
• Strong understanding of the agricultural trade policy landscape.
• Preference for event organization experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in international relations, economics, public policy or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the successful execution of NMPF’s partnership with the U.S. Dairy Export Council (USDEC) on dairy trade policy.
• Cultivate relationships with stakeholders key to advancing NMPF and partners’ trade policy goals across Latin America.
• Develop strategies to address various trade policy objectives.
• Monitor dairy trade policy and global affairs impacting dairy trade policy.
• Address non-tariff trade barriers impacting or threatening US dairy exports.
• Present NMPF & partners’ trade policy efforts to external audiences.
• Research, create, and edit briefing documents, papers, reports, talking points, presentations, slides, speeches, and other materials.
• Organize events and meetings to advance U.S. dairy export growth.
• Collaborate with internal teams for coordinated advocacy.

The Sr. Director, Trade Policy advances U.S. dairy trade policy priorities in coordination with NMPF’s industry partners, with particular focus on market access across Latin America. This role develops and recommends strategies to address trade policyobjectives,monitorsglobal developments affecting dairy trade, and works to resolve regulatory and other barriers that threaten U.S. dairy exports. The Sr. Director cultivates relationships with government officials, foreign counterparts, and industry stakeholders whose support is essential to achieving these goals.A significant portionof the work involves producinghigh-qualitywritten materials, including briefing documents, policy papers, talking points, and presentations, as well asrepresentingNMPF’s trade policy positions before external audiences. The role also organizes events and meetings that support export growth and collaborates closely with internal teams to ensure a coordinated approach to advocacy.

• Present NMPF & key partners’ trade policy efforts to various external audiences.
• Research, create, and edit briefing documents, papers, reports, talking points, presentations, slides, speeches, and other materials to advance policy goals.
• Organize events and meetings to advance U.S. dairy export growth
• Collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure a coordinated and effective approach to trade policy advocacy.
• Perform other tasks as needed to contribute to the support of NMPF & key partners’ trade policy goals and members’ needs.

Education & Experience

• Approximately 7 years of experience infood/agriculturaltrade policy or related field.
• Strong understanding of the agricultural trade policy landscape.
• Preference for event organization experience.
• Bachelor’sdegreein international relations, economics, publicpolicyora relatedfield preferred.

Skills & Abilities

• Fluency (oral and written at a professional level) in Spanish.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.

Travel

• Travel for industry-related events required (5 to 10%).

Salary Range

• $100,000-$130,000
• 7.5 hour work day
• Hybrid position, 2 remote days per week
• Retirement contribution with an 11% maximum contribution
