Job summary

Bioventus LLC is seeking a Senior Director, Operations to lead manufacturing, service and repair, and continuous improvement for our Surgical Solutions portfolio. You will oversee capital equipment, limited-use instruments, and disposable medical products, ensuring safety, quality, regulatory compliance, and cost-effective operations.

• 15+ years of progressive operations leadership experience within the medical device industry or a similarly regulated manufacturing environment.
• 8+ years leading large-scale manufacturing, service, or operations organizations.
• Experience operating within FDA-regulated environments and ISO 13485 quality systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with company objectives, growth initiatives, and customer requirements.
• Lead manufacturing, assembly, packaging, and kitting/labeling operations across the all the Fracture Care, Peripheral Nerve Stimulation and Surgical portfolios.
• Optimize and lead a global service and repair function to ensure optimal turnaround time and customer visibility into the process.
• Lead the teams responsible for the service and repair, refurbishment, loaner/demo distribution of generators and handpieces for the Surgical business.
• Ensure operational readiness for new product introductions, product lifecycle management activities, and business growth initiatives.
• Establish and monitor KPIs related to safety, quality, delivery, productivity, inventory, cost, and customer satisfaction.
• Drive scalability and organizational capability to support future growth and market expansion.
• Lead strategic evaluation of outsourced vs. in-house manufacturing of products across our businesses.
• Direct manufacturing operations supporting capital equipment, limited-use instruments and devices, and disposable medical products.
• Ensure production schedules and operational plans meet customer demand and revenue objectives.
• Optimize capacity planning, labor utilization, equipment effectiveness, and production throughput.
• Oversee all service, maintenance, repair, refurbishment, and field-return activities for capital equipment and reusable instruments.
• Implement improvement opportunities around service turnaround times, equipment reliability, warranty performance, and overall customer experience.
• Ensure manufacturing and service operations consistently meet quality, compliance, and operational performance expectations.
• Lead the continuous improvement strategy across manufacturing, service and repair, and operational support functions.
• Champion Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and problem-solving methodologies to improve productivity, quality, inventory performance, service levels, and cost efficiency.
• Drive operational transformation initiatives that improve scalability, operational performance, and customer satisfaction.
• Evaluate and implement automation, digital manufacturing capabilities, and advanced operational technologies.
• Foster a culture of accountability, data-driven decision-making, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
• Lead, coach, and develop a diverse organization that includes production personnel, technicians, engineers, supervisors, managers, and continuous improvement leaders.
• Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration, innovation, and employee engagement.
• Establish succession planning and talent development strategies to strengthen organizational capability and leadership bench strength.
• Foster strong cross-functional partnerships with Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Supply Chain, R&D, Marketing, and Commercial teams.
• Ensure compliance with applicable FDA regulations, ISO standards, GMP requirements, Medical Device Reporting requirements, and global regulatory standards.
• Support internal and external audits, inspections, regulatory submissions, and quality system requirements.
• Drive CAPA activities, quality improvement initiatives, and risk mitigation efforts across operations.
• Promote a culture of quality and compliance throughout all operational functions.
• Partner with Supply Chain leadership to ensure continuity of supply for critical components and finished goods.
• Support inventory strategies for manufacturing, service and repair, and field operations.
• Develop and manage operational budgets, capital expenditures, forecasts, and resource plans.
• Drive productivity improvements and cost optimization initiatives while maintaining quality and service standards.
• Lead operational integration efforts associated with acquisitions, facility expansions, and business transformation initiatives.
• Support commercialization strategies for new products, technologies, and platforms.
• Partner with executive leadership to define long-term operational capabilities, infrastructure requirements, and organizational strategy.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

The Senior Director, Operations is responsible for the strategic leadership, operational excellence, and overall performance of manufacturing, service and repair, continuous improvement, and kitting/labeling operations supporting Bioventus’ Surgical Solutions portfolio. This role oversees the production and lifecycle management of capital equipment, limited-use devices, and single-use disposable products supporting orthopedic procedures and therapies. The Senior Director leads a multidisciplinary organization consisting of production personnel, technicians, engineers, continuous improvement resources, and operational leaders to ensure safe, compliant, cost-effective, and scalable operations. This position is accountable for achieving business objectives related to quality, delivery, cost, customer satisfaction, regulatory compliance, operational transformation, and employee engagement while supporting business growth and innovation within a regulated medical device environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Education and Experience (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, or related technical discipline required.
• Master's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
• 15+ years of progressive operations leadership experience within the medical device industry or a similarly regulated manufacturing environment.
• 8+ years leading large-scale manufacturing, service, or operations organizations.
• Experience supporting complex medical technologies, capital equipment, reusable instruments, and disposable medical devices preferred.
• Demonstrated success leading manufacturing, service and repair, engineering, and operational excellence functions.
• Proven experience operating within FDA-regulated environments and ISO 13485 quality systems.
• Track record of leading operational transformation, continuous improvement, and business growth initiatives.
