Job description

OneOncology is positioning community oncologists to drive the future of medical care through a patient-centric, physician-driven, and technology-powered model to help improve the lives of everyone living with cancer and other diseases. Our team is bringing together leaders to the market place to help drive OneOncology’s mission and vision.

Why join us? This is an exciting time to join OneOncology. Our values-driven culture reflects our startup enthusiasm supported by industry leaders in oncology, urology, technology, and finance. We are looking for talented and highly-motivated individuals who demonstrate a natural desire to improve and build new processes that support the meaningful work of independent physicians and the patients they serve.

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Director, IT Services to lead the technology strategy, operations, and modernization of OneOncology’s radiation oncology and diagnostic imaging platforms. This role will report directly to the CTO and own a highly available, secure EMR environment supporting Varian and Elekta treatment systems, and a comprehensive diagnostic imaging portfolio spanning PET/CT, CT, MRI, ultrasound, and cystoscopy. The Senior Director will drive cloud migration off on-premise practice infrastructure, advance AI and analytics capabilities, and ensure tightly integrated systems — with patient safety, uptime, and consistent care delivery as the non-negotiable measures of success.

This is a full-time position based in our Nashville, TN headquarters.

Responsibilities:
  • Own the end-to-end IT strategy, architecture, and day-to-day operations of OneOncology’s radiation oncology and diagnostic imaging platforms — including Varian and Elekta treatment systems, the radiation oncology EMR, PACS/VNA, and the imaging modality fleet (PET/CT, CT, MRI, ultrasound, cystoscopy).

  • Ensure the radiation oncology and imaging platforms operate as highly available, resilient systems — with uptime, performance, and disaster recovery standards that protect uninterrupted treatment delivery and timely diagnostic imaging for every patient.

  • Lead the multi-year migration of radiation oncology and imaging systems from on-premise practice infrastructure to a centralized cloud-hosted environment — including target-state architecture, image archive (PACS/VNA) strategy, and practice cutover sequencing.

  • Serve as the senior IT relationship owner with treatment system vendors (Varian, Elekta), PACS/VNA and imaging modality vendors, and AI and analytics partners — managing roadmaps, integrations, service levels, and contracts.

  • Partner closely with radiation oncologists, radiologists, physicists, dosimetrists, therapists, imaging technologists, and practice operations leaders to translate clinical workflows into well-integrated technology solutions.

  • Lead the evaluation, integration, and lifecycle management of AI and analytics capabilities across radiation oncology and imaging — including auto-contouring, treatment planning assistance, image-based diagnostic AI, and predictive analytics — ensuring they are validated, secure, and clinically additive.

  • Establish and uphold the security, privacy, and regulatory posture across radiation oncology and imaging — including HIPAA, HITRUST-aligned controls, identity and access management, audit logging, and FDA/medical device considerations.

  • Oversee integrations and interoperability between the radiation oncology EMR, imaging modalities, PACS/VNA, medical oncology EMRs, billing, and enterprise data platforms — using DICOM, HL7, FHIR, and modern API patterns to enable a unified patient record.

  • Build and operate a 24x7 support and incident management capability for radiation oncology and imaging — including monitoring, on-call rotations, runbooks, and post-incident reviews.

  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing radiation oncology and imaging IT team spanning systems engineering, application administration, integration, and clinical support.

  • Lead the radiation oncology and imaging IT workstream for new practice partnerships, mergers, and acquisitions — assessing existing systems, defining integration plans, and onboarding practices onto the OneOncology platform.

  • Additional responsibilities as assigned to help drive our mission of improving the lives of everyone living with cancer.

Required or Preferred Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of IT leadership experience, including 5+ years leading radiation oncology and/or diagnostic imaging technology in a hospital, health system, oncology network, or large physician practice environment

  • Hands-on experience supporting both Varian (e.g., ARIA, Eclipse) and Elekta (e.g., MOSAIQ, Monaco) ecosystems, plus PACS/VNA and a multi-modality imaging environment spanning PET/CT, CT, MRI, ultrasound, and cystoscopy

  • Proven experience leading large-scale migrations of clinical and imaging workloads from on-premise infrastructure to cloud-hosted environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including image archive strategy and practice cutover planning

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Health Informatics, or related field required; advanced degree preferred

Essential Competencies:
  • Demonstrated track record running highly available production EMR, imaging, and clinical platforms, including uptime, disaster recovery, and incident response in regulated healthcare settings

  • Strong working knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards and patterns (DICOM, HL7, FHIR, modern APIs) and integration across EMRs, imaging, billing, and analytics systems

  • Familiarity with AI and analytics tooling in oncology and imaging (e.g., auto-contouring, diagnostic AI, predictive analytics), including validation and change-control practices

  • Deep understanding of HIPAA, HITRUST, and security/compliance requirements (identity, access, audit, vendor risk management) in clinical environments

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with clinical stakeholders (radiation oncologists, radiologists, physicists, dosimetrists, therapists, technologists) and translate workflows into technology decisions

  • Strong program management, financial acumen, and executive communication skills

  • Attendance is an essential job function.
