Pfizer is seeking a highly accomplished technology leader who combines enterprise-scale strategic thinking with deep technical expertise in cloud, infrastructure, networking, and platform engineering. What You Will Achieve

The Senior Director, Cloud & Infrastructure Transformation serves as both a strategic technology executive and a technical thought leader for Pfizer's cloud and infrastructure landscape. This leader will define future-state infrastructure strategy while ensuring the successful execution of complex, enterprise-scale initiatives spanning cloud, networking, data center modernization, platform engineering, and AI infrastructure.

You will lead a team of senior leaders, architects, and engineering organizations while helping establish the technology vision, engineering standards, and operating models required to support Pfizer's digital future.

You will be expected to drive business outcomes through technology strategy while maintaining the technical depth and credibility necessary to guide architecture decisions, challenge assumptions, and ensure engineering excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define and execute Pfizer's multi-year cloud and infrastructure transformation strategy, aligning technology investments with business and scientific priorities.
  • Lead enterprise-wide modernization initiatives spanning multi-cloud environments, AI/ML platforms, network transformation, infrastructure automation, and data center evolution.
  • Serve as a senior technical authority, providing guidance on architecture, platform engineering, cloud operations, resiliency, security, and infrastructure modernization.
  • Partner with architects and engineering leaders to evaluate and influence critical technology decisions, ensuring scalable, secure, and operationally resilient solutions.
  • Drive adoption of cloud-native architectures, Infrastructure as Code, automation, observability, DevOps, and Site Reliability Engineering practices.
  • Establish technology roadmaps and engineering standards that support innovation, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance.
  • Build strong partnerships across Digital, Security, Research, and Business organizations to accelerate enterprise transformation initiatives.
  • Lead and develop high-performing teams of Directors, Senior Managers, and technical leaders while cultivating a culture of innovation, accountability, and technical excellence. Mainly influencing to start, followed by a larger team over time.
  • Influence senior executive stakeholders and drive alignment across a complex, global, matrixed organization.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends to identify opportunities that improve Pfizer's technology capabilities and business outcomes.
  • Balance strategic priorities, execution risks, operational demands, and technical considerations to drive sustainable transformation at scale.

Here Is What You Need (Minimum Requirements)
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline.
  • 12+ years of progressive leadership experience in cloud, infrastructure, networking, platform engineering, or related technology functions.
  • Demonstrated success leading large-scale cloud and infrastructure transformation programs at enterprise scale.
  • Deep expertise in public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, and/or GCP), with a proven history of designing, building, and operating production environments supporting critical business workloads.
  • Strong technical foundation spanning cloud architecture, networking, platform engineering, infrastructure operations, automation, and security.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage in architecture reviews, challenge technical design decisions, and influence engineering standards through technical expertise and credibility.
  • Experience leading organizations responsible for cloud engineering, platform engineering, infrastructure automation, architecture, operations, and reliability.
  • Proven success developing and leading senior technology leaders, including Senior Managers, Directors, and Architects.
  • Extensive experience driving results through influence across business, security, engineering, and executive stakeholder groups.
  • Expertise in cloud-native architectures, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/OpenTofu), automation, DevOps, observability, resiliency engineering, and modern operating models.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity, compliance, and risk management practices within large enterprise environments.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business-focused recommendations.
  • Proven ability to simultaneously lead strategic planning and execution across multiple complex initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience building or enabling AI/ML infrastructure, advanced analytics platforms, or high-performance computing environments.
  • Experience supporting research, scientific computing, or large-scale data science workloads.
  • Pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, or other highly regulated industry experience.
  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Technology Management, or Business Administration.
  • Industry certifications in cloud architecture, engineering, security, or infrastructure platforms.
  • Experience leading global organizations across multiple regions, cultures, and time zones.
  • Experience with enterprise-scale migrations, data center exits, platform modernization initiatives, or mergers and acquisitions.
  • Demonstrated success driving technology transformation through both strategic vision and deep technical leadership.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $214,900.00 to $358,100.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 22.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
