Thermo Fisher Scientific in Greenville, NC seeks a senior operations leader to own sterile, non-sterile, packaging and inspection activities at the Greenville site. You will drive Lean and PPI initiatives, ensure safety, quality, and timely delivery while aligning with site and business-unit goals.

This role leads large matrixed teams, partners with cross-functional leaders, and delivers on long-term strategic action plans to sustain growth and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA/MS preferred.
  • 10+ years in manufacturing operations, 5+ in senior leadership in sterile manufacturing.
  • Experience leading revenue streams of $500M+.
  • Strong cross-functional Finance, Supply Chain, and Commercial skills.
  • Expert in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement.
  • Deep understanding of FDA, OSHA, EPA and cGMPs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

GROUP/DIVISION SUMMARY

The Drug Product Division - North America (DPD-NA) is one of the five divisions that make up the Pharma Services Group (PSG). We are made up of approximately 4400 colleagues across six sites who specialize in taking sterile injectable and oral solid dose drug products from development to commercialization.

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for owning sterile, non-sterile, packaging and inspections operations at the Greenville, NC site, ensuring customer satisfaction by leading production in support of the site and business unit goals and the operation's strategic and annual operating plans. This position drives the site to the next level in delivering on growth and client expectations; establishing systems and efficient methods for producing high quality products; and meeting current timely delivery requirements. Key to this position is the responsibility to lead continuous improvement concepts related to the PPI Business Systems (PPI: Practical Process Improvement) and driving the Site to high levels of operational excellence through Lean Manufacturing and Supply Chain management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provides leadership by leading organizational change, developing and empowering staff, establishing relationships, and putting staff in positions to succeed.

  • Provide operational site leadership and establish goals and priorities consistent with business objectives and client expectations.

  • Responsible for ensuring safety and quality as a key priority.

  • Lead all manufacturing related activities within the site to ensure that all are driving toward common goals established in the strategic plan.

  • Partners with business leaders on developing the business’s annual operating plan and plays a fundamental role in developing and implementing the short- and long-term Strategic Action Plans

  • Accountable for the financial performance of the operation. Ensures operational expenses meet financial objectives by evaluating current conditions and applying corrective actions and proactively seeking improvements where possible

  • Develop and lead high-performing teams to ensure effectiveness of operating units. Leverages team capabilities and drive ownership and accountability throughout the Site and works to break down barriers that impede successes for the team.

  • Champion PPI, providing overall direction for operational engagement. Drives continuous higher levels of process improvement, customer satisfaction and profitable growth at the site.

  • Drives the development and role models a site culture aligned with Thermo Fisher’s 4i Values, is a strong change agent able to move individuals and teams through change successfully.

  • Work collaboratively with all cross functional support teams to drive results and build trusted relationships

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree (MBA, MS, or equivalent) preferred. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and applicable work experience may be considered.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in manufacturing operations, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within a sterile manufacturing environment.

  • Confirmed experience of leading large-scale, sterile fill pharmaceutical operations in a highly regulated environment, operating multi-product facilities, and leading large matrixed teams.

  • Experience leading a revenue stream of $500 million or greater.

  • Cross functional business sense including Finance, Supply Chain, and Commercial to drive Customer Experience and a dedication to excellence.

  • Experience leading and developing high-performance teams, driving organizational change, developing an operational strategy and achieving business goals.

  • Strong background in operational excellence, including experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Deep understanding of regulatory requirements (FDA, OSHA, EPA, etc.) and Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs).

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and other Business Segment Leaders.
