Job summary

CBS News and Stations in New York is seeking a Senior Digital Producer to develop and edit videos for YouTube and other platforms. You will write, shoot, package, and edit stories from concept to finished product, manage multiple projects, and adapt quickly to breaking news with a hands-on approach.

The role requires strong writing, video editing in Premiere Pro, and a solid understanding of production workflows.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience producing content in a fast-paced digital media environment.
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, with a strong portfolio of video editing work.
• Well-developed understanding of media production workflows, including asset management and production platforms.
• Strong interest in breaking news and current events, with an eye for compelling stories and trends.

Responsibilities

• Create and publish original videos for news-of-day, long-form content, marathons and short-form slips.
• Clips and publishes video segments, writes SEO-friendly and compelling headlines/descriptions, chooses and crops thumbnails.
• Ensures all necessary video content gets uploaded to CBSNews.com, YouTube and Paramount+ and follows guidelines by Rights & Clearance, Standards and Law; helps facilitate fixes and changes as required.
• Publishes original video content, including thematic episodes and marathons, made for CBSNews.com and YouTube and maintains a content calendar with future ideas.
• Maintains, curates and updates assigned CBS News brand YouTube channels.
• Requests and sets up YouTube live streams as needed, managing slates and OTT presence.
• Coordinate with talent, correspondents and producers, etc. on booking, shooting and producing longform content that can be repurposed for YouTube.
• Draft and send breaking news and segmented push alerts across platforms, including app, desktop, OTT, email, text and instant messages and for partner platforms.
• Helps coordinate detailed rollout plans across departments for specials, documentaries and other major news events, creating and executing a promotional plan.
• Helps maintain a content calendar and contributes to planning meetings, working with the SEO team on coverage plans as needed.

Overview

CBS News is looking for a Senior Digital Producer. The ideal candidate is a skilled writer and content creator comfortable developing and editing videos for YouTube and other platforms, creating original, repeatable concepts, maintaining content calendars and drafting news alerts.

This is a creative, hands-on role for someone who can take an idea from concept to finished product—developing the story, writing the script, shooting/packaging the content and editing the final video. The ideal candidate can manage multiple projects and deadlines while also pivoting to respond to breaking news when needed. This position is covered by the WGA East and is onsite Monday through Friday 10 am - 6 pm ET.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to

• Creates and publishes original videos – news-of-day videos, long-form thematic content, marathons, archive content and short-form slips, and other content as requested.
• Clips and publishes video segments, writes SEO-friendly and compelling headlines/descriptions, chooses and crops thumbnails.
• Ensures all necessary video content gets uploaded to CBSNews.com, YouTube and Paramount+ (& other partners) and follows guidelines by Rights & Clearance, Standards and Law; helps facilitate fixes, replacements and other changes as required.
• Publishes original video content, including thematic episodes and marathons, made for CBSNews.com and YouTube and maintains a content calendar with future ideas – ensures all original content is cleared by the show(s), Rights & Clearances and any other necessary parties.
• Maintains, curates and updates assigned CBS News brand YouTube channels.
• Requests and sets up YouTube live streams as needed, managing slates and OTT presence.
• Coordinate with talent, correspondents and producers, etc. on booking, shooting and producing longform content that can be repurposed for YouTube (such as podcast shoots, on-set shoots, etc.).
• Draft and send breaking news and segmented push alerts across platforms, including app, desktop, OTT, email, text and instant messages and for partner platforms.
• Helps coordinate detailed rollout plans across departments for specials, documentaries and other major news events, creating and executing a promotional plan (crafting push copy, prewriting articles and video heds/deks, etc.).
• Helps maintain a content calendar and contributes to planning meetings, working with the SEO team on coverage plans as needed.

Basic Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience producing content in a fast-paced digital media environment.
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, with a strong portfolio of video editing work.
• Well-developed understanding of media production workflows, including asset management and production platforms.
• Strong interest in breaking news and current events, with an eye for compelling stories and trends.

• Exemplary writing and self-editing skills, with the ability to draft copy quickly and accurately while exercising strong editorial judgment.
• Proficiency with analytics platforms, such as YouTube Studio, Adobe Analytics, and Chartbeat.

Additional Information

Hiring Salary Range: $116,000.00 - 130,000.00.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
