Job summary

Salmon & Associates, a longstanding engineering service provider, seeks a Senior Piping Designer for an onsite Pittsburgh-area client project. You will join a Capital Projects Team to develop piping layouts, P&IDs, isometrics, and related design deliverables at the client facility.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years of piping design experience, strong AutoCAD and CADWorx skills, and a solid understanding of piping systems, construction terminology, and project coordination.

Qualifications

• AS degree in Drafting Technology from an accredited program.
• 10–15 years of piping design experience with industrial facilities.
• Strong skills in AutoCAD and PDF editing software.
• Understanding of piping systems terminology and construction practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; self-motivated.

Responsibilities

• Lead design efforts for piping layouts at client facility in Pittsburgh.
• Produce P&IDs, plans, sections, details, and isometrics.
• Generate BOMs and assist procurement.
• Collaborate with engineers, operations, and maintenance.

Salmon & Associates is currently seeking a Senior Piping Designer for a Pittsburgh Area onsite client position.

Position Type: Full-time

Location: Pittsburgh Area Client Facility

Work Environment/Physical Demands: Office/Sedentary, Plant

Travel Requirements: Occasional site visits required.

Essential Functions

• Seeking a senior designer for a long-term assignment at a client facility in the Pittsburgh, PA area.
• Work full-time onsite within a Capital Projects Team.
• Participate in scope review meetings with engineers, operations, and maintenance staff to determine design package goals and deliverables.
• Generate initial scoping documents to confirm tie-points, routing, and piping specifications & standards needed for the installation.
• Perform project walk-downs and gather field dimensions necessary to produce detailed design packages for construction.
• Develop packages that are accurate and of high quality that include P&ID's, plans, sections, details, and isometrics using AutoCAD.
• Generate Bill of Materials per dimensions, specifications, and quantities needed for procurement.
• Collaborate with project team members on constructability, project schedule, and installation details to insure successful execution of deliverables.
• Projects may entail performing design with civil/structural scope.
• Having background with processing laser scans and 3-D modeling helpful.
• Provide comprehensive, efficient, and cost-effective technical input into design.
• Take ownership of all deliverables and review drawings for completeness, overall quality, and adherence to standards.
• Maintain orderly and organized project files.
• Observe all client standards and safety protocols.

Requirements

• AS Degree from accredited Technical College or University in Drafting Technology.
• 10-15 years of design experience.
• Hands-on skills using AutoCAD and PDF Editing software.
• Understand construction terminology and knowledge of piping systems.
• Strong Written and verbal communication skills
• Self-motivated, creative, organized, and solution advocate.
• Attention to detail.

Experience Preferred
