Job summary

Vicor is a leading American manufacturer of advanced 48V centric DC-DC converters. We seek an experienced engineer to design and develop state-of-the-art power electronics products within our R&D team.

You will drive converter design across magnetics, analog design, simulation, PCB layout and documentation, leading projects from concept to production and coordinating with internal groups and customers. Ideal candidates have 5+ years in power electronics, strong modeling and analysis skills, and

Qualifications

• BSEE, MSEE preferred.
• 5+ years of Power Electronics design experience in AC/DC or DC/DC converters/VRMs.
• Extensive knowledge of high frequency switching power supply topologies and control architectures.
• Power conversion design skills include magnetics, circuit design and analysis, simulation, layout, feedback theory, EMC, and interfaces.
• Strong mathematical and analytical background with ability to model complex electrical problems.
• Self-motivated, detail oriented, with strong team and individual contributor leadership skills.
• Outstanding organizational, communications and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop state-of-the-art DC/DC converter products using proprietary technologies.
• Cover converter design, magnetics design, analog design, component selection, simulation/test, PCB layout, and spec development.
• Lead product design and development from conception through manufacturing production.
• Oversee generation of the full documentation package for all designed products.
• Interface with internal organizations and external customers.

Job Description

• Working in the R&D organization, you will design and develop state of the art DC/DC converter products using proprietary technologies.
• Design elements include converter design, magnetics design, analog design, component selection, simulation/test, PCB layout, and product functional specification development.
• Leads product design and development from product conception through manufacturing production.
• Oversees the generation of the full documentation package for all products designed.
• You will also interface with internal organizations and external customers.

Education / Qualifications

• BSEE, MSEE preferred
• 5+ years of Power Electronics design experience in one or more of the following: AC/DC converters, DC/DC converters, VRMs, BUS Converters.
• Extensive knowledge of high frequency switching power supply topologies and control architectures.
• Specific power conversion design skills include: high frequency magnetics design, power conversion circuit design and analysis, circuit simulation, layout considerations, feedback control theory, EMC compliance, and logic/interface circuit design.
• Strong mathematical and analytical background, with ability to model complex electrical problems.
• Ability to be self-motivated and detail oriented
• Excellent team and individual contributor leadership skills
• Outstanding organizational, communications and interpersonal skills

Compensation Data

Salary Range: $105,000 - $130,000

Please note: This range is based on our current market driven pay structures. Individual salaries are determined based upon a variety of factors including but not limited to, a candidates overall qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience as well as company internal equity.
